Either - vinegar is vinegar 😂
I’ll ask my dad - he’s the one who makes it using white. It’s probably just been picked up as a name for the dish because we call them spring onions. My nana was Scottish so may come from her.
Spring onions
Malt vinegar (I know!)
Sugar
Mint (fresh or teaspoon of mint sauce)

this is a family recipe - we are not very refined 😉

Jack's Instagram archive is the gift that keeps on giving.

I too get triggered by onions...but only when Jack is preparing them.
I notice not much has changed....

If I were in LJCs shoes I would have made an Allegra recipe instead.

Can confirm that peach and chickpea curry is shite and there’s no way you can make it worse than it already is.

I am a massively petty witch and I would have made one of THAT MANS recipes in response 🤣

ETA: I now see it’s months before that man, but I would speculate (m’lud) that Jack still felt the same way about JO and just hadn’t vomited it all over Twitter so it still works. Kind of 😂

Admittedly that likely would not help the situation at all but then I’ve thankfully never been in a relationship where I’d get instructions like that.

Like is she genuinely going to know the difference whether the correct measuring tablespoon was used or not?
TBH I don’t think this has anything to do with a recipe. It’s also completely humourless and quite nasty.
Jack is being patronising in the extreme here because she wants Louisa to feel small, useless and stupid. She wants Louisa to do all this and then say “it’s so difficult, you are an absolute genius darling, I don’t know how you do it, I’m not worthy”. Because Louisa is clearly an intelligent woman doing a difficult, stressful and important job, and therefore she needs taking down a peg or two.

“turn it on full for one minute exactly, count it out loud to yourself”

Jesus suffering Christ!

Not only does Jack insinuate that Louisa is incapable of estimating one minute (it needs to be EXACT) but she even demands that Louisa count out loud to herself. She wasn’t even allowed to count in her head 😐

This honestly is abusive. I’m well familiar with abusive male partners who threaten to harm themselves/make up illnesses to get their female partner to take them back. Sound familiar?
Is this her way of asserting power in the only way she knows, over an already powerful woman. I think so.
