Finally managed to get started and have read the first three chapters - some of this is very familiar from when a friend got mixed up with the London Church of Christ. Suspect I'm in for a very late night going 'Just one more chapter...'!
945 pages in one night - finished at 4.20am this morning. Just wow. Luckily I have the morning off work and don't have to be in until 1.30. I think I may be setting the alarm again once Mr F has gone to work...

Just finished.

I am pleased Corm finally admitted to Robin how he feels, actually bought a tear to my eye!! I was worried they would get together early on and it would be a bit much, so I'm pleased it panned out this way. We have a long time to wait for the next one and I imagine any romantic relationship between them will possibly be a slow burn?? And maybe the last book she writes in the series will end with them finally together? Or God forbid one of them dead.

I loved the way she of made us lose track of how long Robin had been in the cult for. So effective in conveying how it effects the members with no watches or proper meals etc.

I didn't see the twist with Amy coming. I thought more along the lines of Becca being involved like Strike was saying to Amy.

Overall 5* for me and I loved it. Better than Ink Black Heart as that was a slog in places with the chat rooms.

Did anyone else feel that the circumstances round Charlotte's death were lifted pretty much straight from Caroline Flack's situation?

When can we stop doing spoilers for The Running Grave on this thread?
I'd enjoy an open discussion about the book.

Yes it did appear to be similar circumstances.
I couldn't stand the character of Charlotte and her selfishness so I was actually pretty pleased when JK killed her off.

Now she needs to get rid of Robin's boring boyfriend 😒

I liked the way that Pat was developed as a character in this book, she could be really popular.

Warning: don’t read unless you’re at least up to Ch59!!!!

Absolutely LOVE the bit about how ‘bodies’ don’t matter, only ‘spirit’ matters in relation to the ‘crime’ of rejecting spirit bonding with someone of the sex you’re not attracted to.

Nice one, Jo! 😁

I had a handwritten letter through my door today from the JWs talking about how they could help if I’m sad by all the suffering in the world.

That’s such a weird coincidence! I was listening to an old episode of the ‘Trust me’ podcast this morning (really good podcast - it’s all about cults & coercive organisations), and one of the presenters was talking about how they had received the same thing.

It must be a well-established JW strategy. 🫤

I've not finished yet as it's been the work week from hell and I've just not been in the frame of mind to read, but what I have managed so far is very good and I'm scared for what will likely happen to Robin. (I'll avoid spoilers for next few days but for sure will join the separate thread once I have finished).

However, I just saw this on Instagram and smiled, JKR does it again... cancelled, who?!
