IVF and Fertility Treatments

I had a frozen transfer so no personal experience of testing after a trigger, but I think the general consensus is that it should be well gone by day 9. Can you get a FRER? I found them to be the best tests early on!
Thanks - I’ll try get one, fingers crossed and thanks for replying. I also did a frozen but they gave me ovitrelle to trigger, think it’s a new process they’re trying!

How is everyone doing? I’m currently waiting for my HSG. There’s a delay with the NHS so I’m having to go privately in a couple of weeks. So frustrating. It just seems like such a slow process..

Meanwhile everyone around me is getting pregnant, planning siblings etc. Seems so unfair!

Hi all, I had my first frozen transfer at the start of August. It was a positive but ended up being a chemical and by mid Aug it was confirmed to not progress. I stopped my progesterone pessaries and started my bleed two days later (around 19 Aug). I haven’t had my period since, it’s been over 5 weeks. Does anyone have any advice?
I just paid for my second round as I no longer have nhs funding. Hopefully starting next cycle for a frozen transfer.

Hi wondering if anyone has any advice for me. We have been trying for a baby for exactly 3 years now with no joy. Just wondering what do people recommend as first steps. Obviously I will be going to my doctor first to get bloods checked but just wondering what to expect or if there is anything else I should be doing in the meantime before we look into IVF. Based in Ireland. Periods are normal, regular. I’m almost 34 and starting to worry.

Have you tried tracking your ovulation? And do you take any supplements? Myo-insoitol and coq10 are some recommended ones. If you are concerned about your age, it may be worth going straight to private investigations if you can afford it - they’ll take blood to check your thyroid and ovarian reserve, and also check your partner’s sperm. You can then take the results to discuss with your GP for next steps.

I agree with the above 👆🏻 I’d say get yourself to the gp to start investigations ASAP just so you’re in the system. I went nearly 2 years ago and I’ve only just been seen at the fertility clinic, and even then it’s slow! I ended up paying for bloods and internal scan which I took to the NHS app and I’ll also be paying for HSG test privately because the waiting list is so long, so these are things to consider!

Just a warning because I didn’t know, if you end up down the private route and have private IVF you aren’t eligible to have any rounds on the NHS! We nearly went privately and of course they never mention this 🙃

No I only use the free version of the FLO app. I’m
Not sure how great it is to be honest. I’ll also check out those supplements.its all new to me so just wanted to get an idea of what’s to come before I go into the doctor. Dont want to be completely blindsided.

Hello, I was signposted to here from the TTC/ pregnancy loss page, based in Ireland and had a Miscarraige and surgical intervention at 11 weeks back in July, waited for a cycle to come before trying again, commenced on letrozole and went to doctor on day 11 for trigger shot but no joy and cycle was 31 days, my usual was 28 days, last month took letrozole again and managed to ovulate myself so no need for trigger shot ( I have PCOS and doctor confirmed ovulation on day 15 with an internal scan) today is day 34 and no sign of period symptoms but lots of fatigue so decided to test first thing this morning with a clear blue early detection test (it’s all I had) and showing not pregnant. I’m totally at a loss at what to do? 35 soon and trying for awhile, unsure when to consider IVF? Husband had low sperm motality but worked with a registered dietitian and totally cleaned up our diets and looked at supplementation. (this month the fact I got a BFN, I’m now waiting in auto mode waiting for my cycle to resume even though only mild discoloured discharge is my indication that period might be coming, so I can take the third and final prescribed dose of letrozole). I was certain it was going to be positive as I had overwhelming fatigue and length of cycle at an unheard of 34 day cycle for me. Almost feel like the test this morning had to be incorrect. Feeling lost and confused

In sorry you've been going through this. It's a bit difficult to suggest from this post. Is your current doctor an expert in fertility? If they are not, maybe going to a specialist is a good choice to rule out maybe some other underlying issue. Idk about details in UK to get an ivf treatment.
If you are 34-35, you are still in a point were ivf has realy good odds.
Big hug for you.

On the off chance. Has anybody used Waterstone clinic in Ireland. If so if ICSI failed do you get a refund of any kind?

I’ve not used that clinic, but my clinic would give £1000 refund I believe if all eggs failed to fertilise.

thank you for your kind words, it’s so easily to get caught up in your own head and the baby accouncements are relentless at the moment. The cycles of letrozole were difficult with no joy at the end but finding myself with a new issue now as I’m day 41 of my cycle and no sign of a period and pregnancy tests are still BFN. Doctor says I just need to wait it out for my period to start. 🫠

We are one day post FET and I am already impatient to just know if it worked or not. We've not told anyone that we went so while I know it is the right decision for us to keep it to ourselves, the not having anyone to talk to about it is also really tough.
Fingers crossed for you 🤞🏽 we are hoping to start in the new year and think we are going to keep it to ourselves too x

Ooh how exciting! Keeping everything crossed for you both! We are heading that way too, have an appointment in Feb and I think I’ll keep it quiet too. It’s too much pressure otherwise!

Do you test yourself at home?

Ahh bless you. The wait is so hard, but try and focus on enjoying being pregnant until proven otherwise! Do you have any nice plans to try and keep yourself busy?

We test at home, yeah. OTD is the 30th but there's no way I will last that long, this is TWW #6 and I have never lasted longer than about 8 days 😂

Thankfully we're away over Christmas with family and as we're not telling people, I'm hoping that will keep my mind off it. Day 2 and 3 have already been better than day 1 with busy work days and Christmas prep. After 5 IUI TWWs I thought I would be getting better at it, but I'm probably getting worse!

Hi everyone, some of you might know me from my endless and annoying posts on the TTC threads. 18 months of trying with no success. Never been pregnant to the best of my knowledge (and in these 18 months I’ve been a prolific pee-er on a stick!), PCOS and endometriosis and I’m 39. What a catch!

We had a private fertility assessment as my BMI is too high for NHS. MrDragName’s sperm is fine and healthy. I have a very high AMH level for my age and lots and lots of follicles in my ovaries, exactly as expected. The doc’s recommended IVF, frozen transfers utilising my natural cycle, which is regular to within a day or two. He doesn’t think anything else is viable given my age and the fact that my eggs might not all be very good quality these days, even if they are seemingly abundant. We’re now thinking about whether we do this or not over the Christmas period.

There’s a couple of things I want to ask about, and that’s the egg retrieval and transfer processes. I had a very traumatic experience of having a mirena coil removed and another one inserted which was over 6 years ago now, but it’s really affected my willingness to have investigations where I get poked and prodded so, err, deeply. I’m fine with a smear test, no issues around sex and trans vaginal ultrasounds have been totally fine. It’s the idea of instruments of any sort going in through my cervix that leave me sweating. Even when I had my mirena removed to TTC I was absolutely freaking out and it made it a lot more challenging for the poor nurse. I see you’re sedated for egg retrieval (and also that it’s a needle through the vaginal wall rather than going through the cervix) but the transfer must involve going through the cervix to pop that little collection of cells in. Of course what I read online says stuff like ‘you might feel some discomfort’ which is exactly what they say about a Mirena change. It’s clear they lie to women! So I wanted some real life experiences if anyone is ok to share?
