IVF and Fertility Treatments

I agree with yankeydoo. The first one can be a bit awkward and uncomfortable but not painful at all. The more you get, the more you get used to it and if you go through the IVF process you're a pro by the end 😂

Thank you! I hate smears and they only take seconds so bit worried for this.

also this is probably a stupid question, but can they see everything with an internal scan? I thought I’d be offered a pelvic ultrasound type thing 😣

I hate smears too but the scans are a breeze once you get over the initial nervousness and it’s fun to see what’s on the screen. They can see much more on an internal scan v pelvic ultrasound that’s why they use them.

Oh thank you! I was worried I was being fobbed off, that’s good they can see everything. I’m definitely interested to see what’s going on in there!

So as soon as I pay for a private appointment, my NHS letter comes through the door 🫠

I think I’ll still keep the private appointment this week

Sorry, I’ve posted 3 times in a row now!

So I had my scan and bloods and was shocked at my AMH which was 7 and he said it was at the low end of normal. He also said that 8 follicles on each ovary was normal, and I’ve got one side with 5 and one side with 3.

He said if was to do ivf I shouldn’t delay as the numbers will only decrease and lower my chances 🙁 I was really upset on the phone call.

I’ve since googled and found lots of people have had successful ivf and natural pregnancies with lower AMH so I’m trying not to stress too much.

Don’t worry about 7, they’ll just tweak your medication to ensure you’ll get as many eggs as possible. When it comes down to IVF it’s quality not quantity, I have a ridiculously high AMH, like in the 50s, and despite getting around 20 eggs in my second cycle I was still only left with one which was viable on day 5.

As other poster said its quality not quantity . I had a really low amh n got 6 eggs and successfully pregnant . I def think the old fashioned Royal Jelly capsules helped , there's always been old wives tales that they help with egg production , easier said than done but try stay calm and relax ,ivf can be so tough n mentally draining you have to take good care of yourself x

I know it's easier said than done, try not to stress.

I got 3 eggs, and am now pregnant with my second child from that round. You want to focus on quality over quantity for eggs and embryos.
Has your partner had a DNA fragmentation test? If not, you should check that, after all it makes up 50% of the embryo quality.

If you're not already taking then I'd start on CoQ10 and have your vitamin D levels checked as that can affect quality.

Another vote for quality over quantity! I did mild IVF and ended up with 9 eggs, which turned into 3 good quality embryos.

Thanks ladies for all your replies 💕 I think I was just in shock yesterday. I thought IVF might be on the cards in the future but wasn’t expecting him to say i need to start sooner rather than later.

I take the pregnacare vitamins for conception (sporadically I’ll be honest) but maybe I’ll look into others?

My partner hasn’t had the dna fragmentation, he just had a normal nhs sperm test and they said it was all normal, but is definitely worth doing that’s agian as it was about 2 years ago!

I’ve got an NHS app coming up so I’m parking everything until I speak to them and see how long the wait times are for NHS IVF 🙈

Hi all, I’ve just had my egg collection end of May and had all my embryos frozen, do people know the time lines of when their next period arrived so I can do a fresh transfer?

Assuming you mean frozen transfer I had to wait for withdrawl bleed ( came within a week) then would have been able to go ahead on the next period but we waited

Yes thank you, sorry I meant frozen transfer! How long was the time between the withdrawal bleed and your period pls

Hi all 👋

just wondering if anyone has any success stories from a 5.6 AMH. I’m 29 so I know it’s low for my age. I start my down reg on 12th August so just trying to prepare myself as much as possible x

Mine was 5.4 and I managed to get 9 eggs from retrieval which ended up as 4 embryos frozen.
I would eat healthy in advance of it - lots of greens and have enough magnesium intake

I had my transfer last Friday, I’m 7dpt post and have started testing. Any thoughts on if I’m testing too early?

Thank you, it’s Tuesday (day 11) but just did one now (day 9) and it’s so diff between brands. Is that expected? Could my hormones still be from the trigger etc??

I had a frozen transfer so no personal experience of testing after a trigger, but I think the general consensus is that it should be well gone by day 9. Can you get a FRER? I found them to be the best tests early on!
