Not ignorant at all. I wasn’t even familiar with the term until earlier. Basically any money spent after the date of separation is split. So say for example Alice has been living rent free in the $2million La Jolla home with all utilities being paid ordering Panda Express and shite from eBay using Ioan’s cards and bank details, she now owes Ioan half and that will be taken into account during any settlement she thinks she’s entitled to. I think.
So essentially she would owe him money.

Only half if it comes from community property (savings accrued during the marriage) if it's from his non community property (assets he had before marriage or after separation, Eg reunion earnings) she has to pay back 100 percent not 50 percent
