She’s never been very clear about what exactly it is that she wants to do. Mentol healf is quite broad. I’m guessing she just quite likes the idea of labelling people with diagnoses that she’s Googled?

Maybe if she was a bit less vague about her career intentions then her quite big Twitter actually might be able to signpost her to some guidance. She could be asking for a leg up instead of a hand out.

Any road, she won’t be excelling in any kind of career with sleep habits like these:

Why would making a roast be so difficult?
It's actually incredibly easy (if you have an oven obv).
I'm going to have to look up millionaires spaghetti - never heard of it.
But again another fascinating glimpse into the crazy world of Sarah.

it's here https://tastesbetterfromscratch.com/million-dollar-spaghetti/ She also stole the photo from that post.

Flipping hilarious, we accuse her of having the self awareness of leftover bolognese and she decides she'll own us by making bolognese for dinner.

Pic or it didn’t happen! She shows us photos of her Mackie Dee’s, so why not the lasagne monstrosity? (Because it didn’t happen).

Do you know, when I’ve felt a bit fatigued and like I might be lacking in iron I love a roast. Perfect excuse to get load of red meat and green veg down me!

But nope. Sarah is so poorly sick all she can cook is beige and empty carbs and cheese. And then wonders why she’s deficient in nutrients?

I just looked at the recipe and I’d be standing on my feet longer making that than I would chopping some veg and leaving everything to cook itself. Has she not considered that she can sit on a stool in the kitchen while she preps food if it’s that bleeping bad? That’s what I did when I was morphined up to the eyeballs post-surgery a few weeks ago. She’s properly pathetic. The only thing wrong with her is hypochondria.

KILLED BY COOKING A BALANCED MEAL! I’ve heard it all now. More likely to be killed by not making the effort to cook a balanced meal!

so it’s a weird take on lasagne?
meat and tomato based bolognese bit
pasta in sticks instead of sheets.
white sauce part made with various cheeses rather than a cheese sauce/béchamel

honestly I don’t see how this is less effort than a roast?
chuck a chicken in the oven (legs/thighs for no-oven Sarah and her little mini oven thingy) with potatoes … leave until cooked
steam/boil some greens
be lazy and make some Bisto instead of real gravy
done

Right?

I’m actually blown away that she thinks cooking a roast is such a massive effort. It goes to show how infrequently she actually ‘cooks from scratch’.

What she actually means is she doesn’t have any ingredients for a roast because she doesn’t buy vegetables very often.

I know!
id much rather do as I said, chuck meat and pots in oven. Leave.
cook veg, dinners done
we actually have mini roast (called mini as if I have energy I do lots of extra veg/sides for a ‘proper roast’) often because it’s one of the easiest things and low effort when I don’t have time or energy

that millionaires spaghetti or whatever takes so much more effort!

I think you’re right, it wasn’t about effort, just no veg in the house even though I thought she’d been shopping to last til Thursday? Hmmmm
Surely she’d have some of that frozen mixed veg stashed in freezer?
I went to a well known supermarket once and I kid you not the shelves were empty apart from carrots and onions 😳 and sometimes I just don’t have the energy to go to the shop and so a bag of that frozen mixed veg has saved my backside on several occasions. I mean it’s absolutely not my first choice (I’d much rather have fresh veg, not because it’s ’better’ (frozen is actually often ‘fresher’) But it’s a textual thing for me) but sometimes, needs must!

she could put a bag in the ‘chip freezer’

I have a stool to sit on whilst chopping veg, because of my actual, real, diagnosed disability. It’s a bloody godsend and it means I can cook more, and more varied, dinners for the family. I also have a primary school aged child who loves cooking and baking with me, so that helps loads too. She helped me with a meatball bake today and it’s bloody lovely. We do maths working out the ingredients, we practice her reading with recipes, we learned time a couple of years ago through cooking. Multi faceted learning right there.

Why aren’t her children learning how to cook and helping? I’m sure they’re more than capable.

Oh yeah, I forgot, the broken oven 🙄

I love this. When my kids were small they cooked with me all the time. Instead of having toddlers round my ankles, I popped them up on the kitchen top with a blunt knife and chopping board and set them to work. They both mastered a full (lazy) roast, solo, by age 13.

You would have thought with a nickname like ‘Choppy’ at least one of them would be a master in the kitchen! Perhaps his name doesn’t stem from his culinary talents after all, as I had once imagined. Pity.

I've got a roast in the oven, as it happens. There's only one of me and I don't like eating leftovers for a week, so it's
  • A large onion, chopped into wedges
  • a large carrot, chopped into big chunks
  • some baby new potatoes, halved
  • a couple of celery sticks, chopped into big chunks
  • Two skin-on, bone in chicken thighs
  • Salt, pepper, chipotle chilli flakes
All into a roasting tin, cover with foil, 200C for 40 minutes, foil off, back into the oven for 15 minutes. Job done. Actual work involved, five minutes chopping vegetables while the oven heated up.

That sounds lovely.
The thing with roasts, I always think, is it that they look and taste amazing with relatively little effort. They look like a lot more work than they are.
Which Sarah should know if she does them very often
