Using mental health as an excuse seems to work well for Katie Price when she comes up in front of a Judge. So you have to believe that it can and does work for some offenders.

Am watching live on BBC News and they are reporting he is saying he had 'No memory' of viewing the under age pix because of his mental health at the time!! No feckin' memory!?!!

A few were on Mumsnet around the time he was charged. They were going on and on about how he didn't ask for illegal pictures, and that this could happen to any of us whose phone stores unsolicited pics from Whatsapp, and that Huw was probably too embarrassed to report it...

Exactly, let's not pretend the courts are perfect and this mental health excuse doesn't have a history of getting people off charges.

There may be 'low risk' of re-offending however we must think of the children in all this. It is horrendous and the most heinous crime. To gloss over this, with mental health and covid for 'no memory' is a distraction to what has happened to these children.

Now it's: some of the material was videos; one was labelled as "13 year old"; HE paid hundreds of pounds for the images; his lawyer is claiming that depression made him do it?????; HE claims his depression was so bad that he doesn't even remember looking at the images.

Of course they do, my other half has had to provide data to her Consultant for court cases in the past. That doesn't stop the defence keep pushing it to get into the head of the Judge.

This is all accurate, and what was known at the time. (But not reporting it is a crime in itself)
