Holly Gabrielle #9 makes a statement

He probably doesn't care, any publicity gets his name around.

He has had plenty of employees start youtube channels and seems to encourage it but I can't imagine Holly will work for Ali the rest of her life, and imo it looks bad to piggyback off of your new employer to revive your dying channel. I wonder how future employers are gonna look at this.

She posted vids of her singing when she was younger on Ig and she is very talented in so many aspects. It always makes me wonder how does someone who has many talents and come from a family with enough money to nurture those talents end up the way she has. She has made no real contribution to society despite her degrees and still very naive and childish. She literally has done nothing with her talents, they are completely wasted on her. Im not saying this from a jealousy perspective, would love for her to be this amazing person but something is missing and she turned out to be this... Its honestly sad to watch.

I watched some of the new weekend video. It was very grim - apparently her and Angelo's fav weekend activity (she says) is going to shopping centres to buy energy bars. It's fairly obvious she doesn't have a huge amount going on in her life, but even by that metric the video was bleak...

I must admit I used to compare myself to StudyTubers and feel dreadfully inadequate educationally, but of the ones I know something about (Holly, Ruby, Jade and Jack Edwards), they all seem to have been failures to launch once they left the educational environment. Paige Y is the only one I can think of who’s left uni, made some sensible decisions and is living a ‘normal’ life - the rest seem to be struggling with employment and adulthood. It’s quite sad, really.

It's because typically the practises and techniques that serve them well throughout university applications + university themselves do not always translate well into the working world. What does you well in academic settings, note taking, studying, memorisation, all these "techniques" just do not translate to the real world where you need to come up with solutions much faster, and memorisation is not useful.

Not to mention their social media presence may not be an actual benefit for them much of the time.

And the academic settings that they performed well in tend not to place any premium on social skills; ability to fit into a team (or even manage one); follow an externally imposed routine, etc. I think if you put one of them into an office environment they would probably be able to do the work (meaning the technical work) but I don't think any of them have the soft skills required (which in reality comprise about 90% of the skillset needed).

I can't imagine any of them even getting to that stage, I can't imagine them doing well at interview tbh. I could imagine both Holly and jade thinking they knew better than the boss/company and giving their own ideas. I had a colleague who did this (in her first post uni job) she did not last long at all

I think that some studytubers got into it because they weren't very social so lots of time to video themselves revising. Then, as said above, they are honing skills good for education but not work. And then because they are doing their YouTube, they aren't doing any of the normal part time jobs many people might take so their interaction with real life is really stilted.

Then those who started as teens have a brand and an image that's hard to grow up out of (like Ruby) unless they decide to walk away.

I don't think professional performing arts were good for Holly, and the ED is an example of that. But the YouTube isn't good for Holly either. As you all say, for someone with brains, good qualifications and a range of talents, Holly is example of an underachiever.

For some reason whenever I see or hear Angelos voice when Holly posts about him my mind instantly goes to the trash tiktoker elphaba. If you don't know what that is count yourself lucky. I think its the way they both speak thats similar but its disturbing for me hahahahaha

What do you think about her new video? She still has issues, but I find her very reflective here.

That's the thing with Holly. She knows that her habits aren't healthy but when she talks about her current self she always claims that she has learned and is doing better and us as an audience can't possibly know better than her. She will then years later talk about her previous self and admit that she wasn't actually doing better, but NOW she is actually better. She refuses to get therapy and apparently she values sex over her mental and physical health because she clearly has no problem going to the doctor for contraceptive, but therapy and seeing an actual physical therapist is out of the question.

Why does Emily’s boyfriend look more like her brother than her actual brother does 😭
