lol I used to run and I quickly developed a habit of blowing my nose on the go, Holly needs to suck it up (proverbially) and be gross with the rest of usJust watched her new vlog "my longest run ever" and Holly filming herself while she's running and shouting into the camera at the same time is such a pet peeve of mine. The shaky camera is giving me a headache and who on earth needs to know that Holly needs to blow her nose? She doesn't even seem to enjoy running and exercising, it all feels like Holly is showing off.
Yep 100% I went vegan in early recovery but I wish now that I hadn't, I wish I'd recovered by going "all in" and allowed myself 100% freedom with food. Now I'm stuck in a place where I genuinely enjoy eating vegan food but I'm not sure if there isn't an element of disordered eating that makes me remain vegan i.e. not being able to eat desserts at restaurants etc.I think this was discussed ages ago but I only just stumbled on this thread. Controversial opinion but I was previously vegan and used that unconsciously to hide an ED. I didn’t fully recover til I stopped cutting out major food groups and are meat again. This may not be true for everyone who is vegan but it does concern me when People with EDs go vegan cause that’s what I did.
I think it’s good to go plant based and allow an option to explore foods without outward restrictionsYep 100% I went vegan in early recovery but I wish now that I hadn't, I wish I'd recovered by going "all in" and allowed myself 100% freedom with food. it's very common for people with EDs to go vegan or vegetarian
RE dating, I do relate to Holly because it took until I was 22/23 to be seriously interested in dating (that was mostly because it took me ages to figure out I’m a lesbian but anyway). Once I did put two and two together, for me at least there was a strong element of feeling ‘behind’ my peers given that I never had any practice at dating during the awkward teenage years, and vague embarrassment at being inexperienced. So I wouldn’t be surprised if that combined her perfectionist tendencies is holding her back from actually getting on a dating app or whatever (in a serious way, not just for a joke video ) even if something seems to have clicked at a conscious mental level given she’s talked about being open to dating. Plus as nice as it is to want a relationship to happen spontaneously when the right person walks into your life (paraphrasing something she said in a recent video), if you never even attempt to meet people and don’t have a normal work situation which involves encountering other humans then the likelihood of that happening is pretty much nil :/
Yeh she really doesn't come across as a team player at allI don't want to be nitpicky or anything but does anyone else find it weird that Holly doesn't talk to the other members of her research group? I don't know what's it like if you're in a research group but I imagine it would be nice (and useful) to talk to other students/PhD students/researchers and sort of compare experiences or swap tips and tricks.
And I was also a bit surprised that Holly sounded so indifferent about whether or not her final project will get her a publication. Just because she's mentioned before that she maybe wants to do a PhD afterwards, I'd assume that she'd be keen to get published but she sounded more like 'meh, whatever' about it.
Anyway, that's just my two cents on the Q&A part of the new video because I didn't watch the vlog part lmao
I think she's honestly just not interested in making friends, which is fair, but it extends to the point that she just won't talk to anyone unless it's for the purpose of work. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of her research group does talk to each other regularly just about how they're getting on and helping each other find readings or whatever but Holly seems to think she's above that for some reason.I don't want to be nitpicky or anything but does anyone else find it weird that Holly doesn't talk to the other members of her research group? I'm a PhD student (doing computational work, so wfh) and there have been a few different project students in my group over the past year. I unfortunately haven't had direct contact with them unless we're both in group meetings or my supervisor has asked me to show them how something works. In some cases I didn't even know we had certain project students. So while it's unfortunate, I don't think it's that surprising she hasn't spoken to other members of the group! Academia can be really isolating even if you know the people in your research group really well, and even more so for a project student.I don't want to be nitpicky or anything but does anyone else find it weird that Holly doesn't talk to the other members of her research group? She does have a very indifferent feeling to her project, just in terms of discussing what she's doing for her project, what programmes she has been using etc. I feel like she's getting burnt out while writing her dissertation which is fair enough! But it's times like these when it's good to have hobbies where you just don't have to think about anything.
Just looking through her IG and she’s training for the london marathon…does she mean for 2021? Because of her longest run is only 16km at this stage, she’s screwed!
That's how I feel too, I see the tight top bun and think "ouch". It's a straggly bun too, looks like it would topple off if she shook her headAs much as I dislike the tight bun, what's worse is when she puts her hair into two extremely tight 'space buns' for special occasions. I swear my head hurts just from looking at them. :/
It gives me a headache just thinking about it. You can see in the pictures how much damage she’s done to her hairline scraping it back like this, it must really hurt. That's how I feel too, I see the tight top bun and think "ouch".
