OH WAIT - SHE HAS DONE MUSIC VIDEOS!
Here we have Helen's Vinyl Collection video from three years ago. I revisited it to take a look at her words of wisdom regarding the various bands in her vinyl collection.
First off - the record player, a Crosley. She talks about it not being a very good record player but it was gifted at Gwen Stefani's make-up launch with Urban Decay. But she says the record player looks amazing. She talks about probably investing in a really cool record player in the future.
She only got into vinyl a year previously and she talks about how exciting it was when she put the 'pin' onto the record. She talks about the magic of having something to unpackage and the physical action of the 'pin scoring the disk'.
So onto her collection:
Crystal Visions - The Very Best of Stevie Nicks - this is Matthews's record. Reads a few songs from the back.
Television - Helen tells us she did a cover of it at Christmas if anybody wants to listen to that.
Lana Del Rey - Honeymoon - Christmas present from Matthew, she hasn't listened to it much, reads a few songs but says she doesn't know what was released as a single. She likes the pictures.
Tame Impala - she got from Urban Outfitters, says it sounds different to older stuff and then starts singing a bit.
Rick Wakeman - she hasn't listened to this yet but really wants to but some keyboard player is playing the piano.
Gwen Stefani - this is the album she got free with the record player, she reads a few tracks off the back. This was her first ever vinyl experience.
Beetoven - bought becasue it was £3.99 - Symphony number 9 in D major - B minor - D minor. She loves classical music.
A Hard Days Night - haven't listened to this, haven't opened it yet. This album goes with the Hard Days Night treatment from Lush. She went to Lush and was supposed to be getting the Hard Days' Night treatment but she missed it because she was late for various reasons, she still managed to get a treatment but it wasn't the Hard Days Night treatment but they still gave her the vinyl.
Lana Del Rey - Born to Die - She thinks its the first album and its full of classics. Its got a lyrics sheet (and then she starts singing Video Games).
Best Coast - she loves them, influenced her music, she would love to support them on tour.
Grimes - Art Angels - she's lost the record but the art work is good.
Steel Band & Calypso - present from friends, says what tunes are on it.
Aerosmith Live - another present from friends - reads the tracks off the back. She says Aerosmith are one of her all time favourite bands but she doesn't listen to them much.
Taylor Smith Red- this is Matthews record. Matthew loves her, its his favourite album.
Another Aerosmith album - she got this from New York
Led Zepplin - unopened, she got this when she was in LA, reads the tracks off the back.
First Aid Kit, Stay Gold - she effing loves First Aid Kit - she tells us of all the time's she's listened to it, says its good for driving through trees and sh!t, they wrote music to drive through the countryside to.
Guns and Roses - (still in wrapper, as are most of her other vinyls I might add) - she had to get this because it is an iconic album , best album in the world, its a f*cking great album, if you're too cool for Guns and Roses then fine, whatever, out of all the bands out there Guns and Roses are amazing and this album is amazing and this album is a big deal.
Allvays - she loves this album so much, the vinyl is blue, very dreamy dreamy dreamy pop, dreamy indie, she doesn't really know like they've got an old sound as well, they have a nostalgia feel
Jimmy Buffet Volcano - he's not a guilty pleasure, he's just a pleasure, there's a bit where it goes (and then she sings a bit). And she went on and bought a Jimmy Buffet tshirt.
