Can I just put in my two pennies on Ghislaine as the Epstein/PonceAndrew story is often conflated with the Markles: I actually feel some sympathy for her. She has not been entirely plausibly accused of anything actually illegal other than being a very rich, privileged and pre-eminently dislikeable/enviable person with a possibly kinky sex-life and terrible taste in men from Daddy onwards.

There is a strong element of misogyny/class envy and even anti-semitism and mob justice about the whole story. Those responsible for prosecuting her using the word "slithered"; widespread coverage that starts from the premise that she is a wicked child abuser and very little attention drawn to what she says which is that she is innocent of charges invented by known fantasists and damaged people; and that she hasn't seen Epstein for many many years.

Now this may all be bullshit and she may be the creepily attractive international child trafficker of an international pedophile ring; but thats for others in possession of all the facts to decide, not sundry me too maniacs and conspiracy theorists; and people getting off fantasising about what a terrible time she must be having. We need to know the truth.

The number of people absolutely convinced that the admittedly quite odd and uncomfortable in his own skin (and of course Jewish) Leon Britten had as Home Secretary dressed as a French Maid and stabbed teenage boys to death on a kitchen table, was truly remarkable. Some of them still believe it.

These are mad times. You know aunty likes history. In 1792 Marie Antoinettes best friend the pretty and vacuous Princess de Lamballe who everyone knew was her lesbian lover and dabbled in witchcraft was torn limb from limb and her body parts waived on poles under the prison windows of her terrified friend. There are definite parallels with the public lynching of Ghislaine, and at the end of the day she is a very frightened and vulnerable woman who deserves proper justice.

I have just seen the Russell Royal Reporter on with Lorraine saying Karen Gibson the conductor of the Kingdom Choir has broken ranks by revealing H&M were very difficult to deal with, she had to prepare 12 different versions of "Stand by me" for the wedding , and H&M had to approve the one they wanted. Going to search for more info on this.

I assumed (perhaps foolishly) that she's still had dealings with him...I guess we don't know?
And the anti-semitic element - I agree about that, a lot of people blame the Jews for all that is wrong in the world. I knew a guy (profesionally) who seemed quite a likeable character, until he got a bit more comfortable and started spouting crap about how it's all their fault...
I guess that Epstein was not the biggest fish in that pond, more of an enabler, and because there are bigger names at stake, it will get messy, because people will be desperate to protect themselves, there will be a lot of mudding of the waters, and we might never know the truth.

I heard that too - she said they had to prepare 12 different versions of the song, so that one could be approved but in the end, Meghan and Harry never even bothered to listen to them before the final performance anyway.

Its amazing how persistent and indeed properly "systemic" anti-semitism actually is.
Although the sexual exploitation of vulnerable working class girls (then claiming they're prostitutes) is one of the vilest, and most widespread, crimes and no punishment is enough; the more interesting story about Epstein is where the duck the simply incredible amounts of money came from.

You can so imagine it cant you. I once participated in the editing of a documentary film about an art project with an egomaniac who eventually signalled the cuts by clapping her hands and actually removed everyone but her from the final version.
Interesting how people are being emboldened to speak out - expect an avalanche as the shitshow unravels.

On the subject of her father, it does seem to have been an ... exceptionally close ... relationship. Was there some element of abuse there? That's so often a factor in people becoming abusers themselves.
