Why?: using the full names (as middle names) of a great-grandparent who is shown care, respect and honour at every turn by the child’s parents, and a mother who is much-missed and in discreet tribute.

Disrespectful: Lilibet Diana
Why: commandeering a diminutive used by those closest to the Queen who still showed her the greatest respect. Not shady fuckers who have attempted to crush the spirit and legacy of the elderly wife of an ailing husband/grieving widow and use a dead mother in a desperate attempt to stay relevant. The names have SFA to do with ‘respect’ and everything to do with merching and cold, hard cash.

Exactly, and I also think it's disrespectful to use the private nickname of an elderly monarch as the name of a baby who's already in the spotlight and a public figure.

Equal parts annoying and pathetic for me - first name is the worst. Why not just call her Lilly (or Lili), that’s a lovely name and what she’s going to go by anyway, but noooo have to get the extra attention by using the nickname of the Queen. The very personal nickname of the Queen. After insulting her lifelong work. Ugh.

The middle name Diana… trying to think in everyday life would 1st cousins share a middle name in memory of their grandmother, would both children who lost their mother both use their mothers name for their child’s middle name? It’s a bit odd to me. If that was the only thing I’d look past it, like whatever, but with this pair it seems like yet another example of their attention seeking. Possible a little bitterness showing too, like annoyed they weren’t able to use the name first.

Worst worst worst of all is the fact that this is an innocent baby, used for attention, point-scoring, etc. Ugh!!!

Because it's not a real name, it's a cutesy nickname based on what I assume is a child's early years inability to pronounce her own name properly early on. Elizabeth would have been the respectful (if still inappropriate given they're engaged in a war with her) name to give your baby. Lilibet is just fucking weird. You don't steal an intimate nickname. Unless you're a window licking cunt, I guess.

Exactly! Lily sounds better, it's an actual name and not a nickname, and it does not feel like they stole the Queen's private nickname.

Is it just me who wishes Charlotte had been called Charlotte Elizabeth Caroline? It would have been a lovely way to honour Carole, who sounds like a wonderful grandmother.
