Watching earlier series back there are a few times where Clare says things Catherine would’ve wanted to know/kept quiet

- she doesn’t tell Catherine when TLR goes to the mission
- she tells Daniel that Catherine and his dad/her ex have been having it off again
- just a theory but it’s implied she’s the one that told the drug addicts (who told TLR’s mum) that Ryan was Tommy Lee Royce’s biological son (as who else would’ve told them? It’s not likely Becky’s ex friends would’ve as Catherine was the only person that knew). she would’ve been on drugs and certainly drunk at the time so

S3E1 spoilers thinking of it from Clare’s POV, maybe Ryan had shown interest in visiting TLR and she thought it would be either he visits him unmonitored/unsupervised or they go with him to keep an eye on it. I can kind of see the logic there if that’s the case

Watched the new episode, absolutely loved it. So now I'm starting from the beginning
I’ve just binged watched the first two series, even though I’d already seen them originally. Definitely worth it. I’m sure I missed some of the subtleties first time round. Now I’m going to watch the new episode again too.

Loved the opening of Catherine being an absolute BAMF at the reservoir, absolutely spanking the forensics.
It just grips you from the first minute. The writing is fabulous and Sarah Lancashire delivers it impeccably.

Omg it was amazing still that raw , gritty feeling. SThe acting is top notch , Sarah Lancashire is amazing! James Norton is such a fantastic versatile actor , he's actually posh. When I first saw it I couldn't believe he wasn't a northerner.
The whole cast do a really good job. Gutted it's the final one.

I'm up to date but my partner wasn't so we've started from the beginning again. In the first series it mentions things from S3 E1, such as names and occurrences. I think that shows the level of writing and I feel this season will tie things up.

Also, I watched an interview with SL and she stated that they purposely waited 7 years to make this series as they wanted Ryan to age naturally to the aged of 16. I love that.

It's superb. I don't know why I didn't watch it when it came out but I watched S1 and 2 over Christmas and just thought it was pitched perfectly. I really enjoyed Last Tango in Halifax but the writing verged into being slightly predictable and twee towards the end but this feels really well planned and taut.

Interestingly, I thought Sarah Lancashire was actually pretty poor in The Accident a few years ago but she is nailing this.

Love that it’s the same actor who’s played him since season 1

That's not the only reason - the filming locations repeatedly flooded so filming kept being delayed. That's why they kept it in real time, as they didn't want to recast Ryan.

I know its testament to his acting but Mark Stanley's character doesn't half make me feel uncomfortable, he made me feel suspicious in trigger point and i dont even think his character was a wrong un in that!

He is playing the character (of a horrible bastard), very well in this series of Happy Valley. I find the character so horrible to watch - I’m terrified of him.

I just re-started the first series yesterday after wanting a refresh after watching the episode the other night.
The first series is incredible. I forgot how awful TLR is. I’m trying not to spoil in case anyone hasn’t seen it before but the brutalness of the scenes with the young PC & then in the cellar in the episode after. Wow. I remember watching it the first time around & the beep of the radio that continues to play into the credits after the young PC episode - chilling.
Can’t wait to see how the rest of the series unfolds!

The whole scene when they just play the radio beeping and nothing else, haunting, chilling, brutal. One of the best TV scenes going for how impactful it was.
