I'm surprised they haven't made the contestants light their own bon fires and cook over them this week tbh!
Fresh Pumpkin isn’t in season(and is actually one of the few truly seasonal vegetables left) when bake off is filmed and the tinned stuff isn’t that readily available in the UK(when you compare to tins of peas or carrots etc) it’s also really expensive as it’s imported.Halloween Week and not a single bake with pumpkins. Bit disappointing or is it just me? Am I basic for wanting see some pumpkin pie?
I'm nearly sure they did do something like that one year - made them cook on a campfire, or hot stone or something?I'm surprised they haven't made the contestants light their own bon fires and cook over them this week tbh!
Fair enough they're not in season at the time of filming - I blame my suspension of disbelief for forgetting it's not actually happening in real timeFresh Pumpkin isn’t in season(and is actually one of the few truly seasonal vegetables left) when bake off is filmed and the tinned stuff isn’t that readily available in the UK(when you compare to tins of peas or carrots etc) it’s also really expensive as it’s imported.
Plus the UK doesn’t really use pumpkins in sweet dishes like pumpkin pies/cakes in the way they do in America. I’ve only ever grown up with them being used as a savoury food in soup/stews etc Pumpkin spice lattes only came to uk Starbucks in the last 8/9 years
Yes, it was a task in the final one year. Think maybe the one that Rahul won?I'm nearly sure they did do something like that one year - made them cook on a campfire, or hot stone or something?
