Great British Bake Off 2023

Sad for Josh, I’ll be honest. He just had that finesse that I liked, but didn’t manage to show it this week I guess.

I do wonder if personality goes some way into the decision - Josh was adorable too, but Matty had that certain spark that would work well for interviews and whatnot.

I'm not sure why they bother with the technical challenge as it's never that successful for any of the bakers and the judges don't seem to take it into consideration at the end

Definitely think personality sways the judges. I honestly got the vibe Paul wasn't keen on Josh

Even the since they finished Bake Off round up shows how tit they’ve been. It was just a reel of their social get togethers! It used to be how they’d progressed in their of their baking 😂

The round-up has always been social stuff and how the contestants stay in touch with each other, as well as how they have kept baking or progressing in stuff they mentioned in the show? Ever since the old series it always showed a mix of social and baking. I personally love seeing the social stuff!

So Pleased for Matty… did he propose when he won and they didn’t show it? Because he called Lara his girlfriend all the way through, then when she was talking it said “fiancé”… then he ran over like he was going to propose but they cut away and then at the end it said they’re getting married?!

that’s what I thought 🤔 he said Lana, I need you and then they cut away.

Strange finale! It didn't feel like one in many ways. Lardy cake seemed fairly straightforward, albeit a faff, eclairs a very basic challenge and then a three tiered cake (Dan's just one flavour too?!) They all looked quite sloppy and fairly basic- Matty made a chocolate cake and both Josh's flavours were apple? It just seemed so bland and meh.

I'm an okay baker and have made three tier cakes before and it's challenging but doable to a much higher standard- I'm sure many better bakers than me were watching like ??? could totally do better than that! Usually on bakeoff you are kinda blown away by the standard they reach by the final and they're tested to the limit! This just felt like a random episode to be honest.

Glad Matty won, he seemed so sweet! But I don't think he would have won against almost any of the winners and finalists from previous years.
