Giles Coren #2 Children of the Coren RIP Dawn Foster.

I cannot listen to her, let alone watch. I also don't have a clue what about her is grinding my gears. I tried listening to her Guardian food podcast, but the way she talked just put me off.
She used to have a programme on Radio 4 which I found unlistenable.
She's got a very odd way of talking. Sort of hushed tones, and very stilted. In a pretentious way. As though every word is desperately important.
I hope she doesn't get the Masterchef job. She's a very unrelaxing person to watch.

Me too. Exactly this. Do you follow Top Jaw on Insta? She was on there this week and it killed me but largely because I don’t know what it is about her that gets me.

That’s it Jelly! Perfectly put!

Oh yes that's exactly it! It's the opposite of a relaxing listening experience.

I really like Grace Dent’s writing. I think she’s funny. I’ve never seen her onscreen though. I think being a woman from a working class background will count in her favour when the BBC is recruiting for the Masterchef job in terms of diversity and inclusion. I also wonder if Monica Galetti would be considered. I know she’s been a guest judge on Masterchef lots of times, but she is probably too busy doing Amazing Hotels. Giles is totally delulu if he thinks he’s in with a chance. The BBC definitely won’t want another white male in his 50s who is prone to saying inappropriate and offensive things in real life and especially online. e.g. “I am a paedophile” and accusing someone of being “balls deep in toddlers while your mum fucks a dog”. That is not family friendly.

Monica is a regular co-chef, with Marcus Wareing. The greggg slot is meant for a critic, so it’s always been a bit baffling to have him in it.

ETA I think Grace is fine, she sometimes comes off as a bit stiff on the masterchef but she might relax into it a bit more if she’s doing it on the regular.

He has scuppered his own career. His twitter feed means he will never get offered mainstream tv opportunities. If I were Esther I would be divorcing him before he could ruin her and his kids’ lives and their finances. If he is abusive to neighbours I dread to think how he behaves in his own home.

Its impossible to believe he can turn off that foul temper in the privacy of his own home isn't it? I imagine his family tiptoeing around him a lot while he stays holed up in his office furiously tweeting and responding to comments under his articles.
Wasn't one of the reasons he banged on his neighbours door was that Esther had locked him out? He was steaming drunk or something.
