Worst thing I did getting my GB removed!
I'm booked in for my surgery Tuesday. I was awake half the night with pain . I just don't want to have to go into hospital especially at the weekend. I'm not too bad today but I'll be eating a lot of boring food@opintionatedperson I had my gallbladder removed nearly 2 years ago now.
I was the same as you and afraid to eat anything for fear of an attack. I could never predict what was going to cause an attack.
I would say I can eat everything I want now. On the odd occasion I have felt a bit of mild pain where my gallbladder was but that is rare.
Before surgery they go through all the potential long term side effects so I guess you have to weigh them up.
I was hospitalised two weeks ago with pancreatitis from gallstones. I've been advised to go on a low fat diet. I had a small piece of cake today and all evening I've had pain and discomfort, ive also gotten sick but still in pain . Does this go away once I've had my gallbladder removed or will I ever enjoy food again ? I'm nearly afraid to eat
the best thing I ever did was have my gallbladder taken out, I can actually eat what I want and not be in fear of that bleeping awful pain!
Pancreatitis is supposed to be the second most painful health condition, only bone cancer is worse. It takes an absolutely horrendous toll on your body, so please take it easy while you recover. Hope having your gallbladder out fixes it for you.I've really been taken out by it , couldn't sleep last night over it . My husband doesn't understand but no doubt if he felt it he would be complaining 10 times more than me
I was in the hospital two weeks ago for a week and I'm still not right... I had the middle of the road pancreatitis but twas fairly bad. I've a 6 month old at home so it's just a bit overwhelming.. never had a hospital stay before and I've had two this year once to have my child and then this.Pancreatitis is supposed to be the second most painful health condition, only bone cancer is worse. I was in hospital for 3 weeks with it in January last year and it was late April/early May before I was pretty much back to normal with just a bit of pain left. It was only 2 days before getting discharged that I managed to start walking more than a couple of steps without a zimmer frame. It puts an enormous amount of stress on your body fighting it off, because there's nothing medical science can do for you other than trying to take the edge off the pain and monitoring you very closely for signs of organ failure.I was in the hospital two weeks ago for a week and I'm still not right... I would have another child in the morning that's a doddle in comparison to pancreatitis
It's all just bizarre. It turned out not to be my gallbladder causing it in the end - the ultrasound and CT scans could see something there which one of my consultants thought was a gallstone and the other was convinced was a polyp, so they threw me in the MRI to settle the argument and it was a polyp, so they left it in. Mine was caused by high triglycerides. It's all just bizarre. Hope you are feeling better now , did you get your gallbladder removed?

The nurse on the ward told me im bot the first post partum lady with pancreatitis. There has to be a connection !!.. I was in a&E and they were awful to be honest but once they got my bloods and seen that my levels of jaundice was bad they took me seriously and things moved quicker.Honestly you are me this time last year! I ended up with pancreatitis, had a 6 month old at home, only ever been in hospital to have him and because of pancreatitis. It’s so overwhelming! I would HIGHLY recommend next time you have a gallstone attack just go into A&E, let them see you in that pain, unfortunately because gallstones aren’t visible we really have to advocate for ourselves!
What did they say in hospital about pancreatitis? Whats the next steps? Because sadly once you have a sick gallbladder there isn’t a cure

Re the hospital and pancreatitis is that it was moderate case and that if I don't get the gallbladder out the next time is likely to be worse.. there was gallstones in my MRI and ultrasound and this can help it...
I definitely think it's to do with hormones . I also had a trip to a&E pregnant with chest pain where I couldn't breathe. I was told it was indigestion but now I think it was my gallstones. As I did have issues when pregnant but I just thought it was pregnancy related .....Yeah there definitely seems to be a connection, I’m on a Gallstones page and there is so many women on there like us too, I wonder if it’s something to do with the hormone imbalance after you have a baby… It’s cruel whatever it is!
Fingers crossed they can whip that gallbladder out asap for you!! Sending you lots of love
I had my gall bladder out last month it was the best thing I have done. I can eat anything now without the worry of an attack. I had my first attack 3 weeks post partum, I asked my consultant about it and he said it’s common after pregnancy! It’s something to do with the extra oestrogen and the gall bladder is slower to empty when pregnant makes it the perfect environment for stones to form. Shame no one mentions this before haYeah there definitely seems to be a connection, I’m on a Gallstones page and there is so many women on there like us too, I wonder if it’s something to do with the hormone imbalance after you have a baby… It’s cruel whatever it is!

Fascinating, to be fair i wouldn't change having my son even though it's given me gallstonesI had my gall bladder out last month it was the best thing I have done. I'm booked in Tuesday , I was shocked im bot waiting long at all for gallbladder removal. I know people waiting up to w year so im lucky. When speaking to the surgeon he was very adamant to do it sooner rather than later. I don't think i grasped how sick I was or am as I was so focused on my baby.
Thank you for all the positive stories, Ive never had surgery so I'm apprehensive. They said they would have operated on me during my hospital stay only that I was too sick but I'm glad it's not hanging over me too long.I was similar to you, booked in within a week to get my gallbladder out. They said to me as I'm healthy and have no infections they prefer to get it out asap. I was also jaundiced and had a deranged liver. Once an infection sets in you have to wait to recover from that which just sets everything back. They also said it's more cost effective to get it out while they can, rather than someone coming in and out of hospital each time and then they have to do an MRI to check for infection etc.
Good luck, best thing I did. The pain was horrendous x

The sooner Tuesday is here and it's over the better . I just want to be well and healthy for my little human
