To be fair to the poster, legally in Ireland it’s not straightforward for gay parents. The mother who gave birth will be the only one with legal guardianship. I have certainly seen with straight couples who have acrimonious splits that kids were used as pawns in the adults battle and their interests were most definitely not the first priority. Not saying that’s the case here, and I hope it’s not, but if one parent wasn’t playing ball, I’m not sure the non birthing mother has much legal recourse.

fair point - apologies OP. I was only considering it being managed with kids as a priority and not a battle among those who should consider the kids needs above their own
