The 16/ 17 week appointment is with the consultant if you're going consultant led. Then big scan 20 to 22 weeks. I had all mine jn the Coombe always had those appointments. Also high risk and was seen and scanned every week from 29 weeks

Surely she's public though? I paid 4k to go private but got a big chunk back from VHI. Couldn't have done it otherwise. Where the hell would she get 4k or the price of health insurance? To be fair to the poster, legally in Ireland it’s not straightforward for gay parents. The mother who gave birth will be the only one with legal guardianship. I have certainly seen with straight couples who have acrimonious splits that kids were used as pawns in the adults battle and their interests were most definitely not the first priority. Not saying that’s the case here, and I hope it’s not, but if one parent wasn’t playing ball, I’m not sure the non birthing mother has much legal recourse.

Same sex family law is still in its infancy in this country that's factual . A biological parent will (and I'm open to correction) have superior rights to a non biological parent if they wind up in court. If they can't sort it among themselves that's fantastic.
