The thing i really don't understand is why not replace him during the summer break? Why wait until now, make him come back for one more race and then change everything in a rush ? Because it was clear since the begining of the season that they didn't want him anyway

the dragging it out was borderline cruel tbh. why, like you say, bring him back for one race and apparently leave all the asking around about other drivers until this weekend?!

JV obviously dedicated all of his time to following carlos around hotels instead 🫠

This is kinda my feeling but agree why keep him on this long. I’m not sure why he got resigned this year.

F1 is cut throat and it should have the top 20 drivers in the cars - I’d have dropped a few more over the summer if I was in charge but I’m entering my grumpy peri menopausal stage so it’s probably good I’m not 😂😂

Presumably they said to him we just need clean weekends, no damage to the car (ie costs to us) and be up near Q2 to gather any stray points anyone else let slip and then he totalled the car on his first last chance

that would be the only explanation of the change being done now. As it was said, I get why they did it, I just don't get the timing
and the replacement - I mean I wish the guy well, but it's not like they have a guarantee he will be any better ...

JV also reports to the board and shareholders, their patience might have run out and depending on Logan’s sponsor contracts a new driver with big pockets might help financially (to cover all not cost cap related stuff like for example Carlos paycheck etc)
 
Well it was definitely a surprise that they've gone for Colapinto to replace Logan. I guess they had nothing to offer someone coming in to replace (as in there was no 'if you do well the full time seat is yours next year' option) so it wasn't the easiest to sort. I guess it's positive to give an academy driver a chance, but yeah, also money may talk as well under those circumstances. We shall see I suppose in a few days time!

Now I've gotta go find some tippex and re-label my Sargeant deployment button before Sunday. Who's name is going on it?

or maybe work on getting that RB seat available? 🤔
 
Logan as much as I fancy him, shouldn't have had a contract for this season. He's not good enough.

Replacing him with a middling F2 driver who has no experience on F1 and definitely isn't ready for F1, is not the right answer though. He's not going to be any better than Logan. For whatever reason they didn't sign Mick/Liam/even give Jack Doohan a few races to experience F1 before next year, surely there had to be a better option than Colapinto.

But, because there has been very little turnover of drivers in F1 in recent years, it's also very hard to call on a recently retired driver to bail you out until the end of the season because there aren't any.

I think you can put Franco on it 😅 I would have also put Lance but he seems to be better this season

But this button must not be used if Lando Oscar or Charles are leading this weekend 😂
