I think they mean that cuts should only ideally be for 12-16 week period before shifting back to maintainance slowly so not to stall your metabolism and then go back into a cut again
No they didn't, they meant as I replied - 12 weeks a year only '40 weeks of not'

Not slimming world that caused it, but I did do slimming world for a bit…I had thyroid cancer last year, and honestly every day is a mental battle between ‘I should eat healthily to recover and improve my health’ and denying myself nice foods and ‘I really really want a takeaway’ then thinking i should have a takeaway because if I get cancer again do I want to die being slim instead of just enjoying life and nice food? Sorry I know that doesn’t make much sense. Basically should I just eat the takeaway and be happy but then worry it’s unhealthy, or deny myself a takeaway only to get to the end of my life thinking ‘I should have just enjoyed my food‘

I don’t want to preach too much but im calorie counting and I can honestly say it means you can have balance. On the weekend we went for a Thai meal and on Sunday I had half a (large!) dominos pizza and half a tub of Ben and Jerry’s. This week, I’ve just adjusted my intake and done 2k more steps today. I can guarantee I won’t have put weight this week (if you weigh yourself 2-3 times a week you’ll see it fluctuates so much) and overall will still be in a calorie deficit. It honestly is the way forward and it’s a shame things like slimming world preach basically the opposite, to keep people paying their fees.

Thankyou! ive been calorie counting loosely since 2020, and I’ve lost just over a stone in that time, so slow and steady. The thyroid stuff has thrown a bit of a spanner in the works, as I’ve had to get used to meds which effect my metabolism etc. last night I had a Pizza Hut and intended to keep half for lunch today, but that didn’t happen 🤣 so I’ve also done more steps today!

i definitely eat a more balanced diet than I give myself credit for

Well done! That’s great. Yes, it’s about a long term view and not beating yourself up. Foods aren’t “good” or “bad” inherently. Think about the positive mental affect of having that Pizza Hut and enjoying your evening 😍

I have an under active thyroid and along with calorie counting I do find I have to exercise as well to shift weight but thankfully I like exercise, whether that be walking, gym class or swimming

I just had a flash back there , an ad on TV triggered my memory, does anyone else remember making pizza from smash ??! 🤮
Yep.
Also:
- turkey mince base 'meatzza'
- beef mince base 'meatzza'
- cauliflower base
- WW wrap base
- chicken breast base (as mentioned by @curiouserandcuriouser2022 above)
- pizza on HeB wholemeal bread
- not a base but pizza pasta
- pizza dirty fries using 'syn free' chips

Basically any vessel that could be found to avoid eating a evil forbidden synful pizza base

Complete waste of time weightloss and calorie wise.
Example:
Syn free ham smash pizza (very basic recipe, I know some put egg in the smash etc) - 318 cals

14.5 syn Chicago Town Meat Supreme Sub - 288 cals

I actually quite like the pizza topped chicken. I mean I’m not kidding myself it’s a dominos but I do think it’s quite tasty as slimming world recipes go.

I still make it now and again. It’s good for using up random fridge stuff as pizza toppings.

Remember the limited edition muller shites? I saw some today that were cinnamon bun flavour. I bet like all those flavours they are just watery crap with a tiny hint of artificial flavouring. I remember buying one that smelled really weird and fishy.

Genuinely can’t work out why im always hungry after eating a perfectly decent size/nutritious meal! The only time I feel full and satisfied is after a takeaway, but I don’t feel I eat them enough to be addicted! honestly can’t work it out

It took me a while to realise the difference between feeling “full” (as in could not fit any more food in my stomach) and full (as in satisfied, no longer hungry). Even though it made me feel sick I used to seek out that absolute full to the brim feeling. Now I just try to eat until I’m no longer hungry and after a while you feel much better doing it that way

I don’t even feel satisfied to the point of no longer being hungry though 😞

I found eating more slowly helps, I am guilty of finishing a big meal in literally 6 minutes. My top tips are a cup of tea, miso soup, decaf coffee, even having a side of a portion of soup helps to psychologically tell you you’ve got more coming. Guaranteed in 30 mins after that you’ll feel full. Also, make sure you’ve got enough protein in each meal. This takes longest to digest. You need 100g a day ideally.

Takeaways are full of carbs, sugar and fat which fill you up but go through you super fast.

Have you tried the technique of putting knife and fork down between mouthfuls. I haven't but apparently it forces you to slow down so your brain has more time to realise how full you are. I hope that doesn't come across as condescending as it's truly not meant to.

I bought some muller lights the other day because there were no crunch corners left (first world problems) and they really tasted vile. I used to eat them all the time! Bleurgh.
