Emily In Paris - Netflix

Currently watching - It’s an easy watch in that it’s not heavy on plot and the episodes are short. I feel like it’s trying to almost be like Sex and the City for 2020 and the influencer generation. I’m not hating it but it’s such a cringe fest that is quite obnoxious overall.
It’s like how many French/Paris cliches and stereotypes can you pack into one show? It all feels quite unrealistic and I don’t like how Emily as the American seems to know better and get it right always over all the French people in it, who are all horrible for some reason. Emily also swans around in the strangest outfits that are surely way too expensive for her and just don’t seem what you would wear to work!

Lily Collins is better than this surely?!

Really didn't think it was that bad. I'll probably end up watching it all.

They've clearly gone for a younger demo so I'm not surprised all the ones expecting a sex and the city reboot were disappointed.

But it is what it is, a light-hearted easy watch. There are lots of differences in offices but I guess they're ramping up the stereotypes as you would for entertainment. I kinda like that they aren't afraid to offend. Hate the transitions between shots and the on screen social media stuff.

I'm on episode three and I kind of hate everything about it apart from Gabriel. He's beautiful.

I just find everything so stereotypical and overly cutesy and cliche. It's just meh. I'm not sure I can stick out the whole series.

All the characters just piss me off, especially Emily.

Sylvie thinks she is the Miranda Priestly of marketing, really she is just the Jacqueline Follet.

Just finished episode 5 and quite enjoying it now. Especially as Emily has been dissing influencers; saying they're self serving that don't really care about the brands and are just there for money and freebies. If a show like this is calling out influencers it really does say something about the state of that industry.

Although the music choice is awful, I get it's made for the us and international markets but there's so much amazing french music and it would have been good to actually use it instead of things like French version of these boots and the cliche Parisian stuff.

It's a ridiculous (and quite lazy) fantasy, but cant hate it for that.

I'm about halfway though binging on this. It is truly awful bubblegum cliche stuff but I'm enjoying it for what it is and to help me switch off at the end of the day. It reminds me of the tv films the Olsen twins did when they were like 15, one was called Passport to Paris. I loved those films!

omg passport to paris. I remember a scene where they want to order a "boisson" ( as if you'd ever just order a "drink) andthe waitress brings them a "poisson" 😂

I liked it. I haven’t finished it yet. Think I have two episodes left. I’ve just watched the one where she goes to the parents chateau.
It is rubbish and rubbish acting as well. But it’s a 25 minute watch without having to think about anything and no delicate plot lines and twists to keep up with.
The sex was very awkward in this episode but I won’t say why as don’t want to post spoilers.
