It’s panto season. Probably a bad time for a cast reunion! We’ve got three pantos round here with ex-EE stars.
Thinking along these lines why did they choose to film it at Christmas when nobody's available and June Brown died in April. They've had months to plan this and for a character as legendary as Dot Cotton they should have done it at a time where more people could be there. Could have waited until after the new year and had it then, allowing even more time to get it closer to reality regarding dots family members attending.

Christmas? They started filming for the funeral in October. There were pictures of the cast at the graveside

It's a shame that after the years she spent on the show, a disagreement with the producers at the time (allegedly) led to her last scene being a voicemail saying she's gone to Ireland. It should've been executed better
I don't think she liked the way they reduced her role in the show. Less and less lines.

I think she struggled with her vision so script reading became harder and I feel like I heard she was less able to move around/do outdoor scenes. Which I can see, but whatever happened there is a way to still let her go out on her own terms.

Last of the Summer Wine back in the day managed it. Latter few series where Frank Thornton and Peter Sallis only did indoor scenes, never outside, and reduced roles, but still got to be on the show.

I think the producers just got lazy and didn't want to try and adapt for June Brown.

Becasue they had to wait for dots family first to okay it as they needed to grive themselves
Yep so they've all the time in the world to film it, could have left it well into next year allowing everyone to grieve. Point is if the likes of Ian,Charlie, etc can't make it, it's not authentic. Same with most soap funerals but this couldve definitely been done better at a later date

Apprently from what ive read somewhere she left the show as she didnt like the new dotty actor .dont know if thats true or not though

i read that it wasn’t so much that she didn’t like milly zero, but more that she was annoyed that they didn’t bring back the original actress for dotty (who she was close to). i always thought it was a slightly pointless recast too though!

Yeah I read the same. It seemed that may have been the last straw for June they didn't bring back OG dotty, along with her lack of storylines. She said she wouldn't be back and that was the end of dot☹️

Has she always been this annoying? Im sure she wasn't as bad before
No she's always been infuriating and idiotic. It really annoyed me when she spoke to Zach about the baby. Interfering bitch.
They obviously try very hard to make Alfie iconic but honestly his character couldn’t be more boring and predictable.
You're right he is boring and predictable, it's just one scam after another and everything always goes wrong. He needs a bloody lobotomy of he thinks ice lollies will sell in December. Now he's apparently going to put together a pantomime in a week with no rehearsals 🙄
