Jack being suspended means he's spending time helping at the salon to keep busy. Doesn't he have houses to look after as a landlord?

What do you expect him to do as a landlord, permanently take up residence in his tenant’s houses until a problem arises? Sit at home until someone complains about a problem? You can go months without there being an issue. If there is an issue, they can ring him and he can sort it out but in the mean time he can get on with other things until that happens. It’s what used to happen when he had his day job as a copper

It's supposedly December so when Jack was walking with Amy through the market he should have told her to zip her coat up.

Don't get me started on Howie wearing shorts for the exact same reason.
Hahaa you are so observant. FWIW I never did up my coat as a teen and rarely do now. My mum wouldn’t have bothered telling me to do it up, I wouldn’t have listened.

The shorts I guess is because he has an active job? I wear shorts when I go for a run no matter what the weather 😂😂😂

I know that I shouldn't have sympathy for Janine but Mick obviously doesn't love her as he still loves Linda. She's living with a man who is still working with his ex wife and fawning over her all the time. There's no way I would want to marry a man that treated me like that.

Reports that when Lauren is back for the funeral she's gonna have a go at Linda for how she treated Max. I hate stuff like this. When Lauren left the show her last scene was walking away from her dad who she couldn't stand.

Will it be explained on her return why she's sticking up for someone we thought she hated? No it won't be.

It's like how they never addressed what Alfie said to Kat about her abuse before his last exit and have him come back all in love. With lauren at least they can maybe claim they spoke off screen but ... it's not been that long and Max's actions don't seem the type to be easily spoken out and let go of

it seems a strange turnaround to me too. abi was always max’s favourite (iirc) and he and lauren had a much more tempestuous relationship. i guess they just want to cause conflict with linda and so shake things up then so lauren will fulfil the abi role of blindly standing up for him.

it does annoy me when this show doesn’t remember previous character traits or relationships though. the changes they’ve made with bobby still drive me mad (am waiting for him to kill again tbh).

I didn’t realise why Janine was after Mick until last night when Ricky said he reminded him of Frank. Of course Janine with her daddy issues would be into that. Yuck.

From what I remember, Lauren was the clear favourite with Max. He even protected her when she ran him over. Abi was always really jealous of them.

i think you’re right! i got myself into a muddle with what they eventually did with abi’s character 🤣

and same about mick and janine! the writing has been so odd in that i’ve never been sure if she’s genuine or if this is all just a long game for her - ricky’s comment did make more sense.

Hopefully they'll stop giving Whitney so much trauma now that she's having a baby.

Janine and Mick are so wrong together. It's unrealistic that he'd look twice at her because she is not his type at all. I'm guessing it was the plan from the beginning for her to be involved in Mick's exit?

This feels like the 800th time they’ve done Mick and Linda - will they/won’t they? Are they getting divorced or back together? It’s so dull. I assume they threw Janine into it to keep them apart for a bit. But it would have been much better if they’d either made it so Janine was scamming him, or had Mick get into a relationship with Whitney instead. Both of those plots would make more sense than the boring nonsense we have now with zero chemistry. I’m glad they’re writing Mick out because if he’d stayed they probably would have had him remarry Linda and then she’d relapse in six months or something.

It's been part of the christmas story for like three years in a row. it's so so boring

True. Last year it was Mick and Janine getting together, 2020 it was Linda and Max with the big romantic scene where Linda chose Mick. Them being happy lasted all of five minutes.

I think the will they divorce storylines go all the way back to when Mick was attracted to Whitney. I looked it up and that was back in 2017!

Did Dot actually own the house? I seem to remember her getting into trouble with the council for sub letting rooms?

I wondered this too. I found a Digital Spy thread from 2013 saying Dot owned the house as it had been bought by Johnny Allen and given to her and Jim. But Wikipedia says she bought it with her inherited money. Might be a continuity error as the sub letting thing happened after it had apparently been bought the first time.
