Also Torry Castellano from The Donna’s had to quit drumming and Bob Bryar from My Chemical Romance has said that he can no longer drum for various reasons.Just look at Phil Collins now, practically disabled

Yet Roger Taylor is in fine fettle. I suppose he didn't tour as much as Phil in the 90s,after Freddie died. Also he has a second drummer on stage with him these days. I think Rufus did it for a while before joining The Darkness.
style of drumming honestly comes down to it a lot too. roger was always upright almost jazz style stacatto drummer (charlie watts being another great example of one who was able to tour right into very old age, also drummed in a very chilled way).
taylor was always on the more frantic scale when you watch him and had a very hunched style. he was already experiencing huge issues with his back and wrists (like a lot of rockier drummers do), not to mention the general strain on his heart from playing like that for hours and months at a time.
that rolling stone article linked above has stayed with me since i read it because none of the other drummers had any reason to lie or mislead (all big names themselves). i think it sadly is true that taylor felt a bit indebted to and in awe of dave, and so was trying to power through long tours when he was in pain.
Back when the article was released I read something by a journalist who said that with big pieces like this the quotes and interviews etc are checked over and over again by multiple people, legal teams are involved, etc. Rolling Stone is a big magazine with a long history, there is no way they’d mess up or try and craft a negative narrative for the sake of it.none of the other drummers had any reason to lie or mislead (all big names themselves).
well, based on what people have been saying, that may not be a bad move, regardless of the baby thing. He sounds like he has gone in the wrong direction and probably needs a resetI reckon “rehab stay” will follow
They would have totally known what he was doing behind his wife’s back in my opinion. ( Long time fan here too )Maybe the band is soo annoyed at him...they probably blame him for Taylors death...they probably love his wife. He is wreckless. His ego was too big.. and I say that as a life long fan.

The people who then went ‘they’ve taken my words out of context’ etc etc were just doing damage control.
They interviewed 20 odd people related to Taylor and would have done their due diligence - if the main take away that the readers had of the article was that Dave and the management pushed Taylor then maybe there is some truth there.
Damn, did not know that!Rolling Stone published an article in 2003 claiming gay men were deliberately trying to get infected with HIV on a massive scale. The doctors quoted in the article later said they had never made the statements attributed to them
In 2005 they published an anti-vax article written by Robert F Kennedy.
In 2014 they published a fabricated story about a gang rape on a University campus, they were forced to retract it and lost more than one defamation lawsuit resulting from it.
In 2016, they published an interview with Sinaloa Cartel leader El Chapo and gave him full editorial control over the article.
In 2021 they published a fake story about hospitals being overrun with Ivermectin overdoses. They basically had to admit they did no fact checking whatsoever.
In 2023, they claimed that an ABC journalist had been arrested for criticising the government, when he had actually been arrested on CSEM charges. The editor is a friend of the journalist and had the article rewritten to remove all references to child sex abuse.
So, yeah, I could easily believe they bullshit that article and twisted the interviewee's words, whatever Dave might actually be like.
All on their wiki page for further details

It amuses me that I've seen so many comments across different platforms that the other band members would be disappointed etc. Assuming they're not all at it? They're all in the same position as Dave but without the mega fame - more than likely they've all dabbled in a bit of groupie fun. They would have totally known what he was doing behind his wife’s back in my opinion. Ah yes, didn't think of it that way. They're probably annoyed with him for getting so embarrassingly and publicly caught out thereby dragging the band through the mud, rather than what he's actually done.
I think the article is interesting. I don't think it should be used to prove that Dave pushed Taylor too hard. Taylor was a grown man, he could have said", this is too much, something has to change or I have to leave". It sounds to me like he was letting off steam to his friends about his workload rather than making it official.
If anyone has seen the film studio 666, it’s all a big “pisstake” of Dave pushing the band to make a record, and him wanting it all his way.
Life imitating art and all that
yup-they are all making a living and need to keep it going, if DG retired the band, they are in a tough spotThey're probably annoyed with him for getting so embarrassingly and publicly caught out thereby dragging the band through the mud, rather than what he's actually done.
