Dahlia Beach

How well will dahlias travel though? They already have a pretty short vase life without losing at least a day in transit

Also you’d think she’d use the learnings from this year to focus on what she’s already doing, and doing that well before adding new things that she’ll be crying all over instagram about when she can’t cope.

I feel sorry for the future operations manager as I suspect a big part of their job will be managing Andie and her manic-ness)

i can’t see Dahlias travelling well, no matter how they are boxed. The have a short vase life to start with. There’s more to sending flowers via courier than sourcing nice boxes and packaging. So she will have dahlia tuber sales, flower picking farm, markets and flower subscriptions! All very labour intensive - you’d wonder has she done the maths. Dahlias are having their moment, we’ll all be bored of them very soon.

And she mightn’t find too many willing to spend £49 on a few dahlia tubers next year.

Surely anyone who has followed her for more than a week would not be naive enough to give her money for a subscription and expect regular flowers to be delivered?! She's shown over and over that she is in over her head, playing at farmer!!!

It seems like her plan involves not doing too much of the actual work herself - she is now recruiting a PA in addition to the Operations Manager and two farm assistants she mentioned the previous day. Along with Eve and a few part time staff for the pick a dahlia field, even if she just pays them all minimum wage, the salaries will use up a lot of her income.

I wonder from all those who bought flowers from the markets, how many would make a repeat purchase and if the dahlias lasted longer than a day or two. By the time she got to actually sell them, they had been picked a few days and dahlias don’t really have a great vase life.

I would think she makes quite a lot selling the Dahlia tubers boxes at £59 and this along with her potted dahlias at the flower shows, so far has paid for all the overheads plus some profit, but will her gift boxes sell as well this year, will visitors to the flower shows want to buy a potted dahlia or go for something else next time.

Again with the Mariah lip synch thinking she’s all that! Mega cringe!!!

Me too, and I thought Sarah Raven was overpriced until Andie reel-pranced onto the scene.
Box of 5 curated dahlia tubers at SR = £35
Andie has copied the concept and is charging £60. As my Nan would say, what a brass neck she has!!

I’ve heard a few times this summer that some of the tubers from Andie weren’t what they were supposed to be.
Also didn’t see any checking for gall (which seems to have been rampant this year) when they were digging up. Bet they didn’t tell the people who paid to dig up their own at millets farm what to look out for.

Half of mine weren't what they were supposed to be. Which I was minorly hacked off about as I paid for the nice colour scheme. And the one I was most excited about (Cafe au lait rose) was something completely different.
