I read 47%, over 80s in London and South East haven't had Jabs.
I'm glad it's not just our town hearing this BS!
They need to sort their lies out - we've been told it's for the wildlife, then they got caught out due to exponential grass growth at the start of the season so couldn't cut it quick enough, then the grass was too long and their equipment couldn't cope. It got to the point that you could see cars coming on junctions where the grass was so long.
Never mind that they can afford to run 2 tractors twice weekly to keep the recreational fields grass short - and that's 2 tractors per field, not 2 working all the fields.
Overhanging trees across paths will end up maiming a blind person soon, but the local authority won't touch them because that's the county councils job
I've just seen a post on Facebook about overgrown bridle paths and how volunteer groups have been set up. It's good for the community, but the fat lads at the top of the council must be laughing their heads off and not believing their luck!
It's not just the council either, I've seen other work settings that have made jobs redundant and then advertised for volunteers to do the same job - meanwhile middle and higher management are having expensive away days!
Over the past month I have seen my gp and practice nurse 3 times for a double ear infection and perforated ear drum. They've also rang me to see how I am. I had no problems getting the initial appointment via the pre 2020 method of ringing either.
Like I said it obviously differs on area which is wrong but everything in this country always has and always will be a postcode lottery.
I'm sorry your children haven't been able to see their father, I hope they are reunited with him soon.
I also would question the 'its not normal for the majority', the majority in your circle maybe but not the majority in my circle.
I see nothing has changed on this thread, I stopped checking in several months ago after being fairly active in here because of the constant negativity and scaremongering. Think I will retreat back to the Inghams who arent much better than covid but the lesser of 2 evils
I honestly didn't realise that in Wales you still weren't allowed in others homes. It makes sense to me now why you are so angry on the last few pages.
Here in England (for me) other than masks, life feels back to normal (I'm aware there are things not open but those don't impact me) and I personally don't mind booking ahead for things as I'm a planner by nature.
It's easy to forget that the devolved nations have differing rules and are following differing paths.
Is Wales also planning a 'freedom day' on the 19th? I hope things reopen to a comfortable level for you soon, you must feel like you've been in lockdown forever!
19th of July is freedom day. Freedom day for the virus to do it’s thing. I’ve cancelled my staycation.
What does opening up mean anyway? Aren’t we already open? We were never in a lockdown to start with.
Yeah I have that but after a certain time my mediation has to be reviewed.... which is where I got stuck here lolCan you not download the nhs app where you can order repeat prescriptions without having to ring up for them
I’ve been doing that for mine for ages
feel free but it's full of second homeowners so you'll be lucky to find somewhere. Direct message me and I'll send you the details of my town and show you around my 'normal', virtually of course unless you fancy a day trip!I think this thread is just full of realists who are having different experiences, it just so happens that the majority here are not living 'normally' and their children, healthcare, travel, events, are continually being messed around.
Where do you live? Maybe we should all move there and live in this utopia where all is right!
If they didn't have the online consultation I could have been trying to call everyday and failing repeatedly which isn't good enough for someone who needed more meds. Receptionists are useless tbh at mine! It’s not that the GP won’t talk to you. Appointments are booked up so rapidly and sometimes with appointments for things such has ‘hard skin on feet’, ‘painful arm 24 hours after covid vaccine’, ‘hayfever’, so people who need an appointment like you can’t get one.
What should happen is the receptionist should understand what is urgent and what isn’t, your need was urgent so they should have put you through to the same day urgent doctor as there is one every single day.

Hope everyone on here struggling gets their old normal back soon, I can highly recommend leaving this thread for a while though, it did wonders for my covid anxiety.

You might find a most of those are have some clinical reason why they can't have the vaccine though I am basing that on something of an assumption of attitudes amongst those of the elder generations that I know rather than anything scientific.Well more fool them. We cannot stay under restrictions to protect those who don't want it.

London specific data has the over 80s as 84.4% 1 dose and 81.2% both doses (over total population 77.9 and 52.7 respectively), not sure about the breakdown for the whole southeast though.
I appreciate the anxiety, but if that truly is the case you could wear a fitted FP3 mask yourself (or the vulnerable people you mention anyway)? Wearing that even if others aren’t wearing theirs probably will offer you more protection alone. Also even now people aren’t wearing them properly, taking them off to eat/drink etc - it is truly creating a false sense of security that’s become a bit of a comfort blanket to a lot of people. That's not strictly right. We can have extended households between three households so we can have indoor guests, just not anybody not in the extended household.
We are also keeping masks on public transport and in public health settings and social care. I'm glad. Vulnerable (even double vaxed) need transport for work and honestly wearing a mask isn't such a deal.
