Over the years I have often wondered how Hitler managed to convince the German people to fall into line with his agenda, but now, albeit in a different manner, I am watching it unfold before us. Humans are horrible. We never learn.

A fundamental difference between modern dictatorships and all other tyrannies of the past is that terror is no longer used as a means to exterminate and frighten opponents, but as an instrument to rule masses of people who are perfectly obedient.

What will these people who don’t want the jab do when they make it that you can’t go into pubs, restaurants, etc without having had the vaccine? 🤔

That won't happen. If the government make it mandatory you have to prove you've had the jab or taken a recent swab test hospitality would die as venues would quickly shut. They would need to find a few grand a week to have a couple of SIA qualified door staff on their premises open until close seven days a week. To pay for that prices of the food and drink they sell would go up to cover it so people would stay away thinking a place is too expensive and a rip off.

I should think a significant part of the enthusiasm is simply being able to have a drink somewhere that's not the same four walls yet again. Also, sitting somewhere in the presence of other people, indoors.

Small seeming stuff to a lot of us but meaningful to a lot of others.
edit: described better by Allthevest20 above :)

edit2: I do get it though, I remember the weird euphoria in the vaccination centre, more people than I had seen in one place for a year!

100%. Whilst I used to enjoy having friends around pre-covid for drinks, I just want to go out and be around other people. I don’t care if im not allowed within 2m of them, it’s just nice to get out.

Plus, in Wales we’re technically not allowed more than an extended household at home yet and it’s been too wet to have six people in the garden! We should be allowed six people indoors in the next couple of weeks I think.

I hope your right, people shouldn’t be forced to have anything they don’t want vaccinated into them. I didn’t mean to upset or offend anyone when I posted that. It was just something I’ve seen and heard talk about. My friend also brought it up so we’d been talking about it today.

♥️👏 Thank you. Yes times a million. I am so scared reading peoples attitudes on here. Seemingly ready to hand over our freedom of choice 😲😱

Some people are bonkers. How do you think covid doesn't exist just because you don't know anyone who's had it? Why would you think the government would shut the country down for over a year just to turn us in to a cashless society? People who are scared of needles as their excuse but probably have a tattoo. These people are in our society but will be begging for help from the NHS if they get in a bad way.
It’s not Bolton or the other areas top the vaccine hesitancy table

Lots of great points as usual by her. She always writes pieces I agree with. Boris next week should do his speech to the nation as planned and not put it off. Interestingly it says you wouldn't be fined for not wearing a mask. How confusing when techniquely they still want us wearing them in certain settings like public transport.

So if you no longer can be fined for not wearing a mask on a bus or train even though they are still mandatory it will be interesting to see how many stop wearing them.

I’m not a fan of Allison Pearson’s rhetoric, even if I agree with the basis of what she’s saying, the way she uses words like “scariant” just makes my eyes roll.

Some good news on the back of the trial events that have been taking place!

And here in Scotland, the Edinburgh Tattoo has been cancelled, a theatre in Glasgow has cancelled it's Panto and the rumours are that Glasgow will remain in its current lockdown for another 4-6 weeks.

By my reckoning that'll take us to the end of June. Glasgow went into a local lockdown on 1 September - 10 months of not living normally.

Tell me again what the purpose of the vaccines are???
