I would be pissed to no end if I was expected to do unpaid overtime and then told to go to Iceland and buy a ready meal. It shows good faith from the employer to feed their staff and make sure they’re having nice meals. Imagine the queue at a microwave for ready meals lol

So how do you place a supermarket delivery order for 200 ready meals at an hour notice during lockdown 1? :rolleyes:


Also clearly no understanding of how many shops (even food shops/small supermarkets) were actually open in central London during peak lockdown. Good luck trying to find a ready meal when 3 out of 4 metro supermarkets are shut because there is almost no footfall and it isn't worth them opening. 😂
Sainsburys, Waitrose, Tesco & Boots all closed and boarded their windows next to my office as the city was dead, even though they were technically allowed to open.


You also realise covering their dinner is probably less than an hour of equivalent overtime pay? So you would be okay with the 44k being multiple by 20 over the course of 2 months for overtime, but it is only unacceptable because it is food.

Really not in any I have worked in.

In the public sector working ridiculous hours unpaid has become a fact of life for most on the ground unfortunately the last few years. Yet they don’t even get a few pizzas thrown at them to say thank you.

I have to say I just don't get what's going on here. We've been in lockdown since October 9th, and really strict lockdown since November 13th. Schools have been closed for four weeks now, we have a curfew, you're not allowed to see anyone that's not your close family / household etc. and yet the numbers are not going down at all. We've had 1000/100 000 cumulative cases in 14 days for over a month now (UK has 450/100 000). The biggest problems are retirement homes because all of them are affected really badly and it's the worst for elderly so that means a lot of deaths too. So really the main source of infections still has to be work, because literally everything else is closed. They didn't say anything about Christmas yet but people will 100% visit their families either way so I don't know how it will get any better before spring. :S
 
I don’t feel confident at all that any tier restrictions or lockdowns have worked, I fear what is going to happen over Christmas. I for one am not mixing with any family. We’re sticking to just our own family in our own home. We will let family drop off gifts but we shall stand outside 2 metres away. I’m not taking any risks, my Gran is in her 90s, our parents late 60s and my father in law is diabetic. It’s just not worth the risk to anyone seeing the figures today. What a horrible year 😟
 
Husband doesn’t want to go to his work Christmas meal (only 6 people) and wants to have the whole T2/T3 no mixing rule as excuse. (Not because of covid just because he’s not a fan of socialising with work peeps!)

He’s so annoyed that our local numbers have dropped substantially the last 4 days and we may end up in t1 😂 meanwhile I am happy whatever as I can definitely get my hair cut finally 🥳

The paying for overtime meals is such a non story that distracts from real issues.

Things like gp surgeries are getting access to millions in extra funding to cover covid but are telling people to only make appointments if it an emergency. So locum doctors have been out of work for months as demand is so low. While the partners at the surgery could be raking it in and the death rate could shoot up for many years because of the lack of medical care.

The deaths are around 4 weeks behind so can’t be used as an indicator as to whether we should be in a lockdown. We will not see the effect of the lockdown on the death rate for a few weeks yet.
 
You can do pretty much anything including go to the job centre. They’re not open in NI yet

The thing is healthcare has gone up it’s now 16,570 so I can’t see much of a difference tbh
