Panicking like mad this morning. Daughter was told she needed to self isolate last night as close contact of someone at school that has tested positive. I'm due at hospital this morning for chemotherapy so I've had no choice but to leave her home alone. She's 12 so not super young but still worry about leaving her. Should only be gone a few hours and I've left her sat doing her teams work on the computer but I'm so worried. Told her I will call/WhatsApp every 30 minutes to which she rolled her eyes and said seriously?

if it's any peace of mind I loved being home alone at that age (I'm 24) cause I loved the freedom to get on with my responsibilities (homework etc) alone like a proper grown up ;) If she's responsible enough to be on teams while you're not there then she's clearly a responsible and mature girl who will will know if there's a problem to phone or tell a neighbour! Good luck with chemo and try not to worry, sending major love and hugs to you!❤❤

Update: Third bubble popped overnight 😩 we are now half the school down in bubble closures. Apparently we are at a normal rate of closure and this is how it is all over. Some schools only have 1 bubble in. It’s a mess, in all honesty - government have let schools down badly with “business as usual but not much support” tactic.
What I don't understand about all of this, is that people scream and shout about vulnerable children and how shutting schools affects them. But what about now? When they have absolutely no other choice than to stay home for 2 weeks, then likely down the line another 2 weeks and so on.
Is it just a case of out of sight out of mind?

I’m not anti lockdown, I know they’re needed when shit is heading towards a fan when the incompetent shits we pay to run the country run it into the ground....

but, 591 cases here yesterday, R rate between .7 and .9

Yet NPHET is not anticipating changing the advice around non-essential retail or any of the restrictions currently in place.

are they just set to piss money away and cripple the country by Christmas??

Fireflies, the school sound very irresponsible 😳

It's shocking that they are ignoring advice being offered, and explains why the number of cases are spiralling out of control.

Do you work at the school, can you talk to anyone about your concerns?

Big hugs 🥰

No I dont work in a school I have 3 kids on 3 diffrent schools 1 senior 2 primary upper ks2 so 10-19 age group.

My 2nd child been ill weeks but cant be seen by gp without negative covid test so did that but inconclusive so repeated again today at new test centre which seemed busy.
However result doesn't matter as bubble burst yesterday so whole class home 14days isolation regardless.
As soon as results come back negative other 2 can return school as guidelines say siblings can go in unless sibling tests postive.

Eldest school being awquard about attendance and trying keep recent cases secret so don't really want my child to attend.

Toddler keeps asking and whining why no preschool dance class .
Did it online it's not the same.

Apparently drug company Astrazeneca stands to make a hefty third quarter profit based on the late-stage trials for its covid vaccine., with pre-tax profits almost doubling to £650m for the 3 months to end of September.

No mention of profit forecasts for GlaxoSmithKline, the company that Sir Patrick Vallance has £600,000 worth of shares in:mad:

Good to know that Big Pharma is doing so well out of this shitstorm

Kept myself busy all day today! Scrubbed the kitchen sink, cleaned all the kitchen cupboards n done 2 loads of washing and been to the shop.
Even though my partner is having a bad day, Ive just cracked on and mentally I'm feeling great today! (Apart from seeing the new Kevin the Carrot advert at lunch time which made me cry) 😂😂

Question about bubbles. Is the person who is in the bubble with you is still allowed to stay over?
And does it work the other way round? Can we stay over in their house?

Me, my son and my bf are in a bubble and we can act as ‘one household’ so yes can stay over in each others homes and not social distance but if either of us get symptoms both houses have to isolate.

Does anyone work in a care home? I’d formed a bubble with my sister who’s a carer and there are now cases in the home she works in. How long did it take for the home to become Covid free? I don’t want her to be by herself but also don’t want to catch it if she may have it and have no symptoms.

My brother in law who is in our bubble has to have help with some furniture building, and we were all wondering whether we can go to his place and do it 🙈 So confusing, isn’t it!
