Last of the Summer Covid 🤭
I love making these 😄

Fellow school staff Tattlers, can I ask how you’re finding things at the moment? For us, it’s the worst it’s ever been. Nearly 25% of staff off positive, two bubbles closed + their staff and another two possibly going to pop (awaiting results), another good fifth of families outside the already popped bubbles in isolation. PHE desperately trying to keep things open.

it’s an exhausting nightmare this week. constant firefighting. I’ve suddenly become an IT expert trying to help parents access home learning (school admin is off) on software I’ve never used, and in spite of us asking parents for weeks to log on and test that they can access everything, it seems very few have and have lost account details etc.🙈

Staff are being fraught with one another, we had kids scrapping left, right and centre. It feels like a pressure cooker about to explode for us 😬

Sorry its crap think some schools on verge collapse and exhaustion.
Are you senior school or primary?
Our senior school tried to hide covid cases from parents.
Only sent selected people home close contacts on seating plan for few days as I guess the one postive was during half term so they self isolated for 4days out of 14 the latter end.
Some classes are nearly empty
Lots supply teachers
Masks on corridors won't solve classroom.
Assistant principal saying any absence will be unauthorised .

Then there's the ill child with no covid symptoms.
But go won't see without negative covid test.
Go says lie about symptoms.
The test was awful the staff don't strike me as clinically trained they all looked like a group of student chuggers in a car park that appeared half empty.
Test result came back inconclusive so another booked today at another test centre.
But all bit mute point really as school been banging om about attendance and I'll child felt bit brighter on weekend.
Went in 1 day Monday then sick again.
Email bubbles burst another r child same class who played with Monday. A bubble us class they all home 14days regardless negative test unless we attend a hot clinic can't be seen without negative.
Letter says siblings can still attend school but right now they off as we awaiting test but sibling school say they rather see negative result from sibling.
Its a mess.

As much as a lockdown where nearly everything open.
Fail to see how this reduce r rate much.
All shops I usually go to open.
Kids meant to be In school
Husband in work.
Roads seem busy

Feeling but fed up thank crunchie it's friday

Fireflies, the school sound very irresponsible 😳

It's shocking that they are ignoring advice being offered, and explains why the number of cases are spiralling out of control.

Do you work at the school, can you talk to anyone about your concerns?

Big hugs 🥰

How is everyone doing? Its hit and miss on these threads for me as I'm stuck back at work with increased hours again and I'm so tired but I can't really complain. I'm now doing 715 till 615 5 days a week 😴

Doesn't feel like much of a lockdown here, every shop that is non essential is open for click and collect and you can "browse" while they fetch your order. All pubs are takeaway. The only noticeable things that are closed are hairdressers, barbers and beauticians.

I feel for the school staff at the moment. I've had middle child at home this week due to a positive case. I emailed the school to praise the teacher she's doing a great job with my low in confidence child and I'm very grateful for it.
I received a phone call from the Head pretty much in tears and she said all the emails/calls they are receiving at the min are all negative and angry.

My heart breaks. Its a great school with staff who are trying their very best. I know parents are worried I'm one of them but i genuinely feel for the staff. It's their own lives they are putting on the line to teach our kids ❤️

I've said before that I think schools should be closed as this isn't a proper lockdown and businesses will suffer terribly.

After reading posts on here I can fully understand why many parents don't want schools closing, but there are also so many concerned parents who are worried.

A few days ago someone mentioned that if those who want or need to be in school continued to attend, and those whose parents would prefer to keep their children safe at home should be able to do so. They suggested the teacher holds online sessions for those at home, which would also include pupils who are self isolating, which would allow the whole class to continue learning at the same time.

I think this sounds like a good idea during Lockdown 2. Can anyone see any drawbacks?

As always my main concerns are always to do with vulnerable children. It's bad enough when it's regular holidays and those same children lose their safe place without the legal option to keep them at home during this.

Some parents hide their abuse as they know that child will be seen at school, however if they can keep that child at home then it doesn't bare thinking about.

We can't always manage welfare checks in normal circumstances and miss abuse that's happening under our noses so I hate the thought of it hiding away.

Well, that's not good news is it. I thought we'd actually found a great new fast method of testing. I wonder why they're reporting that so many tests failed to detect positive results, and how they knew. It's odd. People in the trials must have been tested twice, and closely together in order to identify the fault - I assume.
They must've been ? although sky news are still reporting it's taking place but other media sources are claiming it's been abandoned at the last minute ?

Operation Moonshot abondonedhttps://premierleague-news.com/dail...-infected-cases-premierleague-news-com/38610/

I’d say the same is true for the normal tests as well, I’ve known a few people had surprising results
No other news outlets seem to have anything on this yet.

BBC updated their article 10 mins ago and it still says they are using rapid tests so maybe wait and see when they/other big news pick it up as I feel like the media will be loving this if true 😬

more government failings to add to the ever growing list.

I guess they’ll continue with the wide scale testing pilot but with just the usual lab based tests. Which is better than nothing and still good they trial that on a large scale I spose.

Hopefully they can do something to improve the rapid one.

A positive case in our school.

Saw a childminder looking after one of this kids who is meant to be self isolating. Saw parents taking the kids who are meant to be self isolating into school to drop off their other kids in different years.

🤯
Thing is what do you do, if you have no one at home to look after a child who needs to isolate you have to take them with you. I’m not saying it’s right but they don’t have a choice except to keeps all kids off school which isn’t an option.

I don't blame the independent gyms for reopening seeing as how outbreaks haven't been linked to them. They've implemented social distancing and wipes/disinfectant everywhere.

What's a 10K fine if you're be out of buisness in a few months otherwise?
