I'm quite relieved today that all of our suppliers will be very much business as usual. So although we can't take any orders by visiting people in their homes and having our showroom open, we can carry on in the workshop with our current workload. We've enough to keep going for around 6 weeks, after that we're in a bit of trouble :(.

I'm feeling very pissed off today with the smug "I'll get 80% of my wages" brigade. All those agreeing with this shit aren't people running a business and desperately trying to keep their staff in employment.

I mean it’s great for garden centres, but in what world plants are essential? If they are, then surely books/clothes/you name it is essential too?

I wonder if its because they are usually large / very open / outside so quite safe on the covid front. Plus they often sell more than just plants, my local one has a mini supermarket inside as well as other food selling stations!

It might seem that way right now but they’ve said that if we didn’t take action we could soon be up to 2000-4000 deaths PER DAY.
I agree with the the point you’re making btw but just wanted to add they haven’t published how they got to this figure yet.

That would be higher than the highest day for U.S.A. deaths to date, where they have a much higher population and a lot more infected so I would like to see how they got to those figures for us 😬

The science they’re refusing to release 🙄 this is why public support is weakening. It’s based upon science, but we won’t show you why we’ve reached the conclusion that we have and what’s led to our decisions 🤯

Being on furlough again (as I will be) isn’t a bundle of laughs either. It might be 80% but it’s still reduced household income (for me and OH) and especially tough in the run up to Xmas 🙁

Does anyone know if house sales will be able continue during this lockdown?

Also went to the city today to try and get as much of my christmas shopping finished as possible, it was extremely busy but people were adhereing to social distancing, I must have been in 15+ shops and didn't see a single person without a mask in any of them, outside the shops in the street I would say 70% of people were wearing them.
Spoke to lots of little traders in the market who are extremely worried about the loss of earnings for this lockdown. They said the sales in November keep them going for the next 6 months.
Also spoke to the staff in M&S who said they had no idea if they were closing the whole store, everything but the foodhall or if they could stay open. They said they were expecting to be told on Wednesday which seems ridiculously late.
Hopefully they will all be allowed to open in early December and recoup some of their losses.

Just had an Email from PRET, I asked them on Facebook if they are open during Lockdown 2.0 and they said yes.

This is the email contents and it covers the subscription.

This lockdown, we’re not going anywhere. We’re open for takeaway so you can still enjoy your endless morning ‘go-tos’, afternoon pick-me-ups and everything in between.
But if you won’t be popping by for a while, on Wednesday we’ll email you a handy guide for how to pause your subscription until you’re ready to be reunited with your Barista.

YAY!

How do the rules work regarding hospital visits?
a member of my partners family is in hospital on end of life care and now has suspected Covid, still awaiting results.
They’ve been allowed one visitor however my partner has been to collect said family member from hospital.
Should they both be now self isolating until they receive results of family in hospital?
It’s such a sad situation, feel so bad for families unable to visit patients when they are end of life!
Im also aware of myself mixing with partner (we don’t live together full time both single households so can bubble) but I’m classed as vulnerable being pregnant so that is a concern

They were inundated with covid calls today. Mum fell and the care home rang for the paramedics. Four hours later they received a call, no paramedics, asking the care home whether they were still needed because they'd never known it to be so busy. Mum was fine thank goodness.
It's very worrying when it comes down to this .....but did you know they're shutting down the country for a 1% mortality rate  ...glad your mum is ok x

Daughters school are advertising for reception new starters and encouraging people to book and look around! Can they do that?
We do at my school, but parents/carers can only visit after school, must wear a face covering, and it is restricted to one family per visit ...... two adults maximum, no children.

I would say yes if you're able to financially, the person visiting at the very least.
It's so hard when a loved one is going through end of life, lots of love to you and your family at this difficult time.
