Jokes about clashing with Strictly aside, it's actually infuriating that they cannot even get a press conference to start on time (or at all).

Utterly UTTERLY ludicrous if the delay is because they are still arguing about the lockdown details, which IS going to lead to all sorts of mental health issues and worse, and a ton more businesses going to the wall. Absolutely shambolic.

What time? My takeaway is coming soon

they said the next hour to hour and a half...
so 10.30? Monday week 🤷‍♀️

Israel and the Cheque Republic. Russia is not going into second lockdown yet, but in areas with high case numbers secondary schools and universities are doing distance learning.

Very different school system, looking at European countries, all schools are open.

But then it goes beyond that. I had a conversation with a friend who said the shit will really hit the fan if some of the unions downed tools and went on strike for the duration!

Now that would be the Perfect Storm - a national lockdown, and a national strike. And throw in a few problems with food distribution, electric, water, gas and telecommunications, and you'd have a country in complete stasis.

You only have to see how much drama occurs when Facebook or Twitter goes offline for a couple of hours. Imagine if the entire broadband network went offline for a period of time!

We kind of live in that precarious balance of Complete Calm and Complete Chaos. Doesn't take much to tip it either way
The shit would hit the fan I agree, the country would grind to a halt, if delivery services went on strike the same would apply.

Sky News are still saying 1830, although at one point they said some time tonight.
The Telegraph also suggest 6:30. But who knows?

I do think the Chancellor will get called in either straight after or perhaps tomorrow detailing what level of financial support will be provided now that we're entering a second LD

I love how everyone is cracking open wine and ordering food like it's peak saturday night tv. they should make it a proper event, have Ant and Dec host, few games before it, then the announcment, then simon cowell comes on and tells Boris what he thinks. Maybe a few live performances from artists, a competition where you win a static caravan

Brilliant. Post of the week. I was about to sip wine and nearly splurted it everywhere.

I think the delay is because the Cabinet are in-fighting. I think there is the potential that this will really kick off politically, within the Tory Party and cross parties. I wouldn’t be surprised if there ends up needing to be a confirmatory vote through Parliament to get these measures in place and of course people like Andy Burnham are rightfully going to ask for even more funding.

I can’t help but feel that a revolution is coming. People were on the same page in March with regard to the common cause, but this time, the nights are darker and people are feeling the strain emotionally and financially. I think we will unfortunately see rioting and looting in the major cities before the end of the week. The country has lost faith in Boris and the Government.
