I think we’ll still be fighting the virus during the summer so they won’t be opening anyway.
We'll still be fighting the virus in years to come. Schools can't stay closed until then.

Germany is looking to start reopening schools in certain areas and use mobile tracking and more testing to control outbreaks. This approach seems sensible, if not a bit worrying we'll end up with an app like China needed to move around.

Of course then you have Sweden who have kept schools and many places open.

I’ve been off work since last Friday (holidays) and I’m due to go back tomorrow. I’m a postie but I’m allowed to work from home if that’s even possible. They are bringing the van to my house with the mail in and I’m doing around where I live but I’m just really scared of bringing something back to my baby 😪😪 my boyfriend is also a postman too and he’s out in it as well and I just feel a bit sick About it all if I’m honest. I read on the daily mail a father went to Tesco in Devon and came back with corona now this one year old has it 🥺

Im genuinely concerned about who is going to run the country if he is too unwell to do so? Or worse (I don't want to think about that but its something we have to consider). If this were America then the Vice President would take charnge, but there is currently no Deputy PM in the UK Parliament and I don't think there has been one since Nick Clegg. Tony Blair always had a Deputy PM.

Its yet another reason why we should have written consitution in this country!
Dominic Raaaaaab is second in command I believe

Dr Chris Whitty fan here 👋🏻👋🏻. I’ve been talking to my colleague at work today about how concerned I am about him - she was under the impression my worry was due to me having a thing for him 🤪 I obviously put her right and explained I’m interested in his brains and amazing medical knowledge at such an important time! Some people’s minds really are in the gutter!
Anyway, until I see him behind that podium I won’t rest completely 🤣

can you imagine when he finally gets behind the podium the huge wave of sigh of relief to be heard all across the nation from us lot relieved to finally see him

not sure what’s been going on but I whole heartedly think absolutely everyone is pulling their weight where they can. This year has gone to tit and won’t be anything like we know it. We gotta roll with the punches and just stay alive at the moment

They are doing bugger all at the moment, they are on an extended holiday right now. Very few kids in school doing childcare only , and around me they are only working 2 days max a week. I just get messages from fellow teacher friends complaining they are bored.

As a country we need to unite together and part of that is getting people back to work. All my leave has been cancelled as has many others not sure why teachers are any different.

I'm a teacher and I'm definitely not doing bugger all. I have been teaching 12 years and have never done so much work evenings and weekends as I have been doing the past 3 weeks. I am also working the Easter Holidays (without being paid extra, which I normally would be paid extra to do Easter revision days before exams). I defo deserve my summer holiday and I definitely won't be working! So many people have such a low opinion of teachers. If people think it's an easy job and you get loads of holidays and don't work hard then why not join us? Always need more teachers!

I have had a look around but that was Last week so, something may have been set up by now fingers crossed. I am hearing of loads of groups in my area so am hoping. Wish me luck. 😔

Are you on Facebook?
If so, join her local group. I bet they will have something set up for the vulnerable in their community. Does she live in a village or a town?
I’ve now spoken to the owner of my dad’s village shop and they will deliver to those who cannot leave home. Yes, it will cost more but at least it’s an option if needed.

Oh of course we will. I more meant I think we'll still be in a semi-lockdown still for a while. I guess we'll have to see. The scariest thing I think is that we have no idea how long exactly it will be like this for

I just had to check my reaction to those England death figures just then. I felt myself go “phew”! It really shouldn’t be the case that we feel relieved because “only” 403 people have died. That’s still a large and awful number. When I see the figures each day I try to visualise that number of people in my head and it just gets too upsetting. That’s when you know that it’s a large number, because it’s difficult to imagine how many bodies that will be.

I’m feeling a bit negative today and quite low. This is the new normal for us for the considerable future and I’m adapting but reluctantly.

I spoke to my doctor today as I’m struggling to get my prescription medicine for my Crohn’s Disease. Hearing my hospital consultant’s secretary say to me today “we could get the prescription done at the hospital pharmacy but you cannot come here under any circumstances to collect it yourself as Dr XXXX doesn’t think you should be in the hospital environment at the moment” really made it hit home for me just how fragile my prospect of survival is if I get the virus. It’s one thing to figure that out for yourself but to hear that as advice given to you is really difficult.

Sorry everyone, I know I’m usually not wallowing in my own pity on here but needed to vent. 💜

Can I just say I bloody love this thread, as with everyone my emotions have been all over the place, some days I’m crying and panicking and some days I’m doing ok. I’ve learnt lots about Banana bread, the rise of Chris Witty fans ( of which I’m one of them ) and some Irish sayings/jokes that I still don’t understand but trying too 😂 I can’t stand Bono ( or Bonio as my dad calls him ) and that’s all I can contribute to the Irish side of this 😂
stay safe everyone 🥰
Just edited to say my sister is a senior school teacher and is working solid the same as her colleagues. Teachers can’t be praised enough in my opinion
Yeah this thread is great I've had some right giggles over the comments. :giggle: #clapforbojo
