Does anyone have friends or family who are clinically vulnerable (e.g. diabetes/obese) who have caught covid and had fairly mild symptoms? I've been very careful (hermit-ish) for 2yrs, vaxed and booster and know that I need to live my life in 2022.... (looking for reassurance that the vax work I suppose)
My mum had covid before vaccines were a thing. She is in a care home and is obese with high blood pressure, diabetes and COPD and she was asymptomatic. Another relative with very bad asthma and obese had covid and did have some symptoms but nothing as serious as you would imagine a vulnerable person to have if you read the scaremongering. Of course vulnerable people can get very ill and die but being vulnerable doesn’t necessarily mean if you get covid it will be horrendous for them (much the same as being healthy doesn’t mean it will be a walk in the park if you get it).

Thank you and thanks to everyone everyone has replied.

I think that’s why so many people are afraid,it’s just unpredictable isn’t it and there’s no logic to it.

grateful for these threads during the pandemic,I have dipped in and out of them And they have been helpful as I try not to ready too much covid stuff as it is anxiety inducing and stressful. Some posters here have consistently provided digestible info which has really helped me not get overwhelmed. Also nice to see discussion and disagreements without arguing.

happy New Year guys and gals

My son is asthmatic, was worried sick when he got covid back in March, but thankfully he was fine, he later said he had had worse chest infections..... yesterday he started showing some signs of covid again has sent off for a Pcr test as he was coughing none stop.... He had a long sleep woke up coughed up a good few chunks of dark coloured phlegm (sorry if tmi) and says he feels much better so looks like it either mild covid again or another chest infection.
P. S he isn't vaccinated

Hopefully he'll have it mild again if he is pos . I've noticed a lot of people saying about the coloured mucus odd saying as they've say the NV doesn't affect the lungs .

:ROFLMAO: @DreamDolly this is for you Happy NewYear 🥂

I’ve had a cold the last couple of weeks and had those exact symptoms - tested negative (I’m asthmatic too!)

Thank you... Me too.
He does get the dark phlegm whenever he has a chest infection, hence why we now think it might just be that, but sent away for a PCR test as he is classed as a key worker and needs to know for work, and he was coughing none stop, Which now has stopped since coughing up and clearing some of his Airways.
Still don't like seeing him ill with a chest infection as that's still tough for a asthmatic but would be better than covid.

Happy new year Monga.... And all the other posters and lurkers 👀..... Hope everyone has a happier covid free 2022 👍🍾🥂🎉
