Yes @Kim Mild I'm with you on this one. With the numbers being so high and not falling, I wish they'd provide us with more details.

If it is the kids, then I'd suggest they have two weeks off for half term instead of one. If it's holiday makers bringing it back then close the borders again, even if only for a month.

It's not rocket science is it? Stop the cause, or halt the cause, to slow it down before it becomes even more serious.

This is very helpful @fireflies thank you. Can you please supply the link to the table so that I can keep checking the figures.

Weird, the lady who jabbed me definitely said there was something else in it but I’d honestly just be glad for any antibodies at all
Not seen anything to back that up - everything I’ve seen suggests it’s exactly the same vaccine as the first and second but that they’re working to develop ones with new strains.

The issue for me is how much longer are we going to need to wear masks? I know there are already many people not bothering at all in some indoor spaces, especially the supermarkets. If the vaccines are supposed to help, then shouldn't all the experts, along with government just agree that masks should be got rid of entirely.

Right now I'm confused about masks, with some experts saying we should still be wearing them, then others saying it may not be necessary due to the vaccine rollouts. I still wear a mask in indoor spaces. It all seems up in the air and not truly explained. It's just like 'do as you like' and get on with it.

Vaccines aren’t a cure though and need to work alongside all other preventative measures to be most effective. Masks, social distancing, washing hands, vaccines all work together like cogs to keep the machine running. We can’t force anyone to do all of these things or any of these things so it’s up to the people what level of risk they’re comfortable with. Some will feel safer wearing masks washing hands social distancing and being vaccinated. Others will be happy to be vaccinated and not do anything, while some will be happy not to vaccinate but wanting to wear masks and wash hands and social distance, whereas some will feel safe not participating in any of it and just getting on with life because it’s too short! Do what makes you feel safe!

The Irish are advocating the use of them even for fully vaccinated and now advising to work from home where possible

This lab has been in trouble before as has the company behind it

I find this fascinating. They managed to produce vaccines from a virus they had never seen before in around 8/9mths, and to the public within a year.

Delta has been around for a year, yet nothing has happened.
Pfizer have adjusted their vaccine, but its still in clinical trials, so not out to the public yet.
Why would it take over a year to adjust a vaccine for a virus they now know about and understand?
Remember when they told us that once they had the first vaccine out that because it was mrna it could be changed very quickly? Wasn't the phrase they used to sell this called "plug and play"? It's actually "wait and see".

Pfizer say that they don’t even know if they need the new vaccine yet because the old one might still work.
Ok, but that negates the argument on why were seeing more cases this year than last year, even though more people are vaccinated and there were no vaccines last year.
The argument is always "well this is delta". Fine, but now the vaccine maker says the vaccine might not have to be changed.
In fact they said when delta first came along the the vaccine would work, and was working.

Once again nothing makes sense

Our hospitalisations are finally dropping a bit but still high. We have peaked in regards to the fourth wave I think. The big city numbers are relatively low and its the rural areas making up most of the cases. I don't think we will lock down again...we didn't lock down through the fourth wave. We do have a vaccine passport now with a qr code. It's needed for restaurants, theatre, universities and some other businesses.

This covid vaccine was adapted from the SARS proposed vaccine. The SARS vaccine did not get as much funding or research as it did not turn into a big pandemic like they were worried about. So they already had some of the development for the Covid vaccine, it just had to be adapted.
