The Mirror are reporting that Chris Gascoyne is leaving the show again. It suggests that Peter won't be killed off and he will return at one point in the future.

He left for a couple of years in 2014 apart from returning for two episodes in 2015 so I’m guessing he’ll return in 2025/2026. I can see why he wants a break though as he has quite heavy storylines. The writers seem to only give him a storyline if they suddenly remember he’s an alcoholic and make him hit the bottle again.

Someone said on here once that he’d threatened to leave if they gave him an alcoholic storyline again, hence the liver transplant and orange juice orders on tap in the Rovers

Thank you, it was bothering me where I knew him from. I remember him playing a, to put it politely, ‘simple’ character on a Sunday evening drama but it wouldn’t come to me. He was a similar character to David in Heartbeat
