He is the only comedian I've been to see that I've really regretted going to see.John Bishop. As funny as slugs eating all your plants.

Al Murray I kinda regret, because his act is a bit tired nowadays and it's very samey, but I knew I was getting that, so it was okay, just once.
But John Bishop, what a bore that was. I only went because I got half price ticket, turns out there was a reason it was half price.
Same. I loved him in the IT crowd, he was hilarious playing Moss, that moment when they're at the theatre and he gets mistaken as a barman and Jen goes to order a drink and he's stood there is one of my favourite comedy moments but when he's presenting or on panel shows I find him so uptight and cold! I don't know if that's a persona he's putting on or his real personality, but I think he's far funnier as an actor.
Totally agree with this, I initially wrote of Catherine Tate as a sort of "little britain" type show (which I hated ) but watching clips now and again on youtube she is very insightfulI dislike Sarah Millican and any other women (or men for that matter) who use crude humour as the basis of their act. And i could not sit through several hours of her voice!
But if I may rave about a comedian:
When the Catherine Tate Show came out, I watched about five minutes before turning over, thinking "oh wow an old lady that swears...yeah SO funny."
But I'm watching her show now and Catherine Tate is spectacular. She isn't just funny, she has a talent for observing people and developing these characters and scenes which are hilarious but also completely believable. The dialogue is absolutely fantastic, the characters and scenes vary from entirely realistic to parody but the writing is constantly superb. My younger self was too much of a smart arse to appreciate it but I am loving watching her show now.

I'm not saying it's all brilliant, there are some dud characters and stuff, but Catherine Tate Show has aged remarkably well in general. And it didn't generally punch down and make the minority the butt off the joke in the way Little Britain did.Totally agree with this, I initially wrote of Catherine Tate as a sort of "little britain" type show (which I hated ) but watching clips now and again on youtube she is very insightful
Agree - he is awful. I went off him when I heard him telling a story about his 16 year old daughter. It was in the guise of him being the protective father and warning off boyfriends. But it got so wierd. Talking about her 'spreadeagled' on the bed while her boyfriend was 'doing it to her'. It was so icky.Phill Jupitus.
Makes my skin crawl, so thoroughly that I sometimes think I'm being unfair. And then I watch an old episode of QI again, and there he goes again .
It was part of his set on Live at the Apollo. He had a “ joke” about the boyfriend bringing beer because it was thirsty work “ hanging out the back “ of his daughter .Agree - he is awful. That is revolting. How would a father's mind even think like thatIt was part of his set on Live at the Apollo. He had a “ joke” about the boyfriend bringing beer because it was thirsty work “ hanging out the back “ of his daughter .
Omg that story horrified me and I’ve hated him ever since. Never particularly liked him before, so smug. Such a disgusting thing to talk about your daughter like that. It amazed me it didn’t get more backlash. It was all kinds of wrong and creepy. What parent would talk about their daughter like that, never mind on telly??It was part of his set on Live at the Apollo. Nothing surprises me about these so called comedians. That is revolting. How would a father's mind even think like that
