Christmas 2024 #4

I always like the idea of a Christmas Eve takeaway, but I know if we do it, I'll regret not doing a party food/picky bits/buffet dinner 😅

Mr Duck is on call Christmas Eve, so we're not spending it at my mum's. It's going to be just the two of us in our flat, but I've got enough party food bits in the freezer for about 10 people! Is it bad that I'm really looking forward to sleeping in my own bed Christmas Eve and waking up whenever and not at 5am when my nieces and nephew wake up? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Not at all! Christmas Day is hectic you need a good night sleep in your own bed the night before to have the energy to deal with everyone the day after 🤣 I live on my own, my parents are just round the corner but I still choose to stay at my own house Xmas eve night as I like my own bed and I just go round earlyish in my pjs to do presents there 😆

We normally do picky bits for the days 27-30th 😅
We do picky bits Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and NYE usually. The Christmas ones usually last a few days after (because everyone in my family thinks they're bringing food for 30 people, so we always end up leaving my mum's house with masses of food 😅) so you don't have to actually cook a proper dinner until the 29th/30th :ROFLMAO:

I'm all done! With presents that is.

Talked to OH about my stress and we've come up with a plan. I'm going to do my baking at my parents on Christmas eve (it's not much but we're taking stuff over on Boxing Day - I was going to bake today and then take it with us frozen, try and freeze it at my parents and then take it to my in laws, but couldn't fit it in).

I'm writing a little Christmas quiz now for Boxing Day. Hit me up with your favourite quiz questions! I've done a sports round and a specialist family round, just finished a general knowledge round... just need two more rounds and a music round!
I found this one

One more day of work to get through next week and then I'm officially on holiday. God I need the break. I can't wait for everything to just stop.

I bought a book for the now cancelled hotel stay so I'll enjoy that. In my mind, I have lots of tidying plans. In reality I'm going to do sod all except eat cheese.

I've bought a posh (ho ho ho- what I mean is I bought the only one available other than some shrivelled grey things) grass fed chicken. It was £15 but sod it, it's Christmas.

I'm really looking forward to Gavin and Stacey.

Ultimately my take away feeling for this year is that I've definitely felt worse than this and we've all survived another year. That's good going!

Merry Christmas ya filthy animals 😘

Homemade caramelised onion chutney & cheddar sausage rolls, really pleased how they turned out 😍 Going to freeze some for Christmas Eve and give the rest to family (there’s another batch cooking with leftover pastry 😂)
