Celebrity MasterChef

Just caught up on all the episodes so had been avoiding the thread. Loved the look on Kem’s face when he went - he was not expecting that!

Agree with the comment re: the lattice roller. My bf said that he didn’t believe Joe had done the lattice pastry and I explained I’d done it in Home Economics at school when I was 12 - not sure why they were trying to make it into some dark art?

I could not bear Joe - from start to finish the most irritating celebrity they have ever had on the programme and they had Vicky Pattison FFS 😂 I cannot see how he ever came up with the concept of guinea fowl lollipops let alone knew how to prepare them.

I think think this year the celebrities have been the weakest in terms of food knowledge and experience, and therefore have probably had the most help from the home economist in terms of coming up with a menu for them, recipe sheets and assistance in techniques.

I have to say I paused the TV to go on a big expletive filled rant at just how deliberately messy Joe was being. Flinging food around for effect like a grinning idiot (crumble over the shoulder for luck) and not giving a flying duck about who would have to clear it all up after he was done. As someone who has worked in TV I can tell you there will be a production assistant who will have been there from the crack of dawn to set up the studio/kitchen and they’ll not be able to leave until everything was clean and ready for the next day’s shooting. Given he has also worked in TV he knows this. I’m not sure I could have been around him with sharp knives so close to hand 🔪🩸

I can only pray that he runs out of reality shows to go on given he can’t act for toffee and he sinks into obscurity. There were so many people on this year’s series who were happy to show off how thick they were, wearing it like a badge of honour and deliberately playing up to it. Why is being a moron something to be celebrated? Why do I want to see them being paid to appear on my TV? I don’t.

Phew, going to go and lie down in a darkened room now. Looking forward to the non-celebrity one which is always my favourite 🤩

Thoroughly deserved win for Kadeena. Her dessert sounded amazing and it just looked so professional. Plus there was none of the nonsense of "my Stace" every 2 minutes or Megan's "me Grandad" story for effect. Just let your cooking do the talking.

I don't know why I watch the Celebrity version as they drive me mad every year 🤣

It just shows how bad they were that Kadeena won despite having a soggy prawn … don’t get me wrong she was definitely the best out of all of them , but in other groups from the past she most definitely wouldn’t have won .
As for Joe Swash , what an absolute tit show , there is no way that messy idiot didn’t have help with soufflés and pastry etc .

I'm yet to watch the final, but I'm so glad that Joe didn't win. The constant references to Stacey were nauseating, as if she's some sort of god. And the mess was deliberate. What is he even famous for these days? He was in eastenders years ago!

They kept introducing him as 'actor' Squash. But really has he done any acting since Eastenders?
He seems to be a professional TV personality now - predictably popping up on Celeb versions of things eg Tipping Point, Catchphrase etc.
Can't see how this 'career' is sustainable without any actual core skills.

Exactly. He's a serial gameshow contestant and is hanging on to Stacey as his claim to fame. She herself is a tool as well (I didn't mind her in X Factor, thought she was quite endearing).

I'm glad Kadeena won, she seemed sweet. The standard wasn't that high this year and the competition is definitely missing the restaurant rounds.

he always seems to come across as far too big for his boots and is incredibly critical when I feel it’s not needed, and when did he become a bonafide food critic?
He has a show on QVC nowadays with a so-called edit of products - food and such. Lots of ex-celeb MC contestants get big for their boots and he's one of them.

Another who is glad Kadeena won. But I didn’t bother watching the whole of last week. Not exactly on purpose, I was working, but I made no effort to catch up before the final. There were very few celebs I enjoyed watching and not even a gluten free cook could really get me interested. The whole run totally felt like it was going through the motions and it’s not a lockdown thing because the previous series was as good as usual despite being filmed mid pandemic.

I really hope it comes back a lot better next time or I might just not bother in future. I’ve been a fan since 2006 too, even the crappy year they tried to do it Oz style and everything.

Bump time witches :p

Who we looking forward to seeing and not looking forward to? Christopher Livingstone Eubanks is always great TV. Paul Chuckle will be great as well.

Of course one of the Thomas brothers has to turn up. In the comments under the article it says another one is on Strictly this year.
I always like Celeb Masterchef - always a few surprises with who turns out to be likeable or not.

Like Megan last year. I was praying she would smack Gregg Wallace in the face with her gluten free food, but she was actually really nice and an excellent cook.
