Celebrity chefs

Yay I am a huge foodie and love a gossip!! Love cooking shows!
Did anyone watch best places to eat with Fred Sirieix? So good, Rachel Khoo comes across so nice and her food always looks nice. I love great Bristish menu too but cannot stand Oliver Payton. I thought he was gay until I googled him once to see what he actually does other then that show 😂
Love rick stein! His recipes are increidble
Not a fan of Jamie Oliver. The Italian restaurants were just glorified prezzo nothing special at all! And he’s a bit of a plank.
Oh we love that Fred Siriex show, both seasons have been incredible. I know it's his profession but I love how he talks about the service as well as the food - both are equally important to me. Wish I had some goss on him, or his former boss - Michel Roux Jnr but I don't. Does anyone else have anything?

This is my new favorite thread!! I am obsessed with watching Marcus Wareing pull faces at the contestants on masterchef the professionals he comes across like the biggest bellend ever. Love Monica Galetti though I watched her in a show about hotels and she seemed lovely. I’ve met MPW and he is really nice and funny!

She is nice. Her restaurant is round the corner from my work, so I see her all the time.
Yottam Ottolenghi is also a very nice man. At my previous job I worked in an office that was under some railway arches. He had the two that were next to ours. They used one for all the deli style foods he has on his website, and the other was his test kitchen. He used to bring us things to try all the time and ask us our opinions. One Christmas, he catered our staff party for free and gave us each a little parcel of food. Delicious spiced nuts, a mini Christmas cake and passionfruit jam. Really lovely!

I was going to ask about Monica Galetti. I really like her on master chef professionals

Gregg Wallace is my number one most hated person on tv. Followed closely by Stacey Dooley. I cannot stand the way he talks and his inane comments about food, which he clearly knows nothing about.
Ah,ow now, dontcha know, ees an expert! Sorry, southern accents don't come naturally to me, the universe doesn't end at the fuckin Watford gap! If anyone has 10 spare minutes, try to conjure up a cauli salesman who got on tele. twit

This is my ideal thread!!! Like a lot of people have said I have many opinions but no actual knowledge! Although my hubby went to school with Garry Rhodes he said he was just another school kid!! I loathe Gordon Ramsey and his entitled family. Opening restaurants rinsing them for all the money and then hard working staff on the dole!! And his wife is not gorgeous and glamorous. It must be like shagging an ironing board. All that stuff during lockdown pissed me off.And he puts some sausages in the oven in gravy and calls it a hot pot. Heinous!! And Jamie Oliver took his eye off the ball with his restaurants letting his obnoxious brother in law who knew nothing about running restaurants run it. We went one time and it was good interesting dishes with seasonal ingredients. The next time we went it was burgers margarita pizzas and dry old panettone.
Come to the dark side, aka know the self serving cunts

I only have 2 experiences but both super positive.

1) Was lucky enough to go for a business lunch and Murano - Angela Hartnett's flagship. The food was AMAZING and we were wondering if Angela herself was in. We started hearing lots of laughter coming from the kitchen and one voice was definitely her. She then comes out onto the restaurant floor clearly in a fab mood and starts talking to all the diners and larking about. She took a picture with most and even gave my boss's bald head a rub! She was ACE.

2) Went to a Nigel Slater book signing at Leadenhall Market (which is next to my work) as my mum LOVES him and it was part of her Christmas present . I know it was a public event but my God he could not have been ANY sweeter. He appeared actually quite shy (and was kinda scruffy - sorry Nigel!) but he had a huge queue and took time for everyone. He was even answering gardening questions and taking pics and seemed genuinely thrilled that people were interested in his work. The Waterstones people were trying to hurry it along and he told them he was happy to run-over. He was exactly how I hoped he'd be!

Also someone I worked with told the tale of having what was essentially a lock-in after service at Le Gavroche and Michel Roux Jnr sounds a riot!

Oh I love Angela Hartnett, she sounds here how she is on TV ❤️

IRosemary Shrager, years ago there was “Rosemary shragers school for cooks” or something similar it was brilliant watching, a mini Masterchef.

Can not stand Gregg Wallace, “I’m getting lots of chilli heat and I’m getting lots of smokey paprika” eurgh makes me roll my eyes every time he speaks.

Love Michele Roux Jr, he is a beautiful man, so calm and professional.

Marcus Wareing. Follow him on insta, love watching his stories when he’s cooking.

Michel Roux Jnr is my absolute food hero, my favourite chef on tv (although he's not on nearly as much now!). Met him twice - at Le Gavroche (which is utterly amazing) at a cookery demo lunch. Both times he was just as lovely as he is on the telly, I don't think he's a different type of guy off the telly that he is on the telly. He's very obliging when it comes to signing books and taking pictures. I also asked for my meat to be well done while in Le Gavroche, and I know some stuck up chefs refuse that, but it was not a problem and it was cooked beautifully for me - so that's a big thumbs up for me.

I don't really get the Gregg Wallace hate either, I like him and Torode on Masterchef. I also like John and Lisa's Weekend Kitchen (or whatever its called), nice, easy viewing and recipes that are achievable at home by most people.

I was briefly a runner on a Scottish show that had cooking guests occasionally, met a few I didn't know/aren't really famous.

The big one was Gordon Ramsey (5 years ago or so now!), he was genuinely lovely! Sat talking to everyone for ages, while the show was filming I was sent out to get everyone water and he was sat outside waiting to get mic'd up and ready and we ended up having a lovely conversation.

At the end of the evening I was waiting on my taxi outside the studio and he stopped to check I was sorted before he left himself. Total gent the entire evening!
