I know there's no shame in doing panto but there's something so depressing about following Carrie's career when she first started on YouTube, bright-eyed, cheerful and inspirational, landing her dream role in Les Mis on the West End... to watching her dance off-beat looking like glorified children's party entertainment in this kind of a production and being panic-engaged to the first simp she could pull out from her DMs.

Oh gosh like she really had potential. I remember when she wrote those ballads like Running through Rivers or whatever and it was a genuinely good, heartfelt song. Success looks different for everyone but she really dropped the ball here.

What the duck is she doing here where she's making this face but literally making no sound at all?

Love this girl's reaction -

And also loving Carrie just blankly staring and judging while someone else sings

Jesus, what a mess

I would just like to point out, even her character wears doc martens.
Why do these directors and creators keep playing into her Not Like Other Girls persona??

I just find the atmosphere so very degrading.. children hysterically screaming in the background, her unenthusiastically singing her lines. I am aware that Musicals aren't the highest form of theatre either (or have a more conventional entertainment factor, than serious theatre plays).. but Panto seems to be a loud and chaotic farce in comparison. The contrast is shocking..

The problem is she doesn't have the personality (or the ability to act well enough to pretend like she does) to enjoy something like this. She looks like she's being held hostage in her dancing

I don't know the panto scene, never been to one but I know there's a lot of audience participation etc but do they pay extremely well?is that why she's doing it?

Also never forget her Oliver fanfic book she wrote where Oliver gets a call from his agent offering him another panto and he gets upset because he wants a real musical theater job or whatever. His big break hasn't come because he's offered another panto. There's a real sense of schadenfreude seeing Carrie do a panto, knowing how much she looks down on it

Honestly, not sure how her career will ever recover from this farce. No casting director should take her seriously.
But she will just play it off and the next step and moving away from serious roles to her next leading lady, Mrs Montague

I just don't understand the decision to cast Carrie in any panto tbh, she's not a funny person and she's completely devoid of any sense of comedic timing.

Example 1: She plays this over-the-top super evil villain. She could exaggerate said evilness in her movements/gestures and voice, but she just plays... Carrie.

Example 2: She doesn't wait until the crowd's reaction is over to say her lines. That's like rule #1...

Example 3: As someone said previously she seems like she's just there to showcase her voice, she looks bored whenever she's not in the spotlight.

It’s so weird I haven’t thought about Carrie for years and only found out about Joel when someone stitched one of his Tiktoks when he was waiting for her outside the theatre

I’ve just woken up from a dream, (I’m blaming uni work stress keeping me up 😂),where Carrie had dumped Joel and had already moved on with two other west end actors and selling a book about relationships where she described Joel as obsessive

from reading the threads I don’t think I’m far off 😂

The problem is that she doesn’t know who she is and what she wants. She wanted everything (nothing wrong with that), but I never thought she was truly passionate about any of things she’s done, be it MT, writing books or being an influencer. She wants attention, praise and applause. And she gets those without being actually good and without working on her skills. She has an amazing voice, but according to herself, singing would be the first talent she’d get rid of if she had to. When really, that’s the one she should focus on, plus working on her performance skills so her mt career could continue the way it should for someone her age and fame.
She also wants to be an author, but throws out these half-stolen stories that seem like they’ve never seen an editor. The only thing I’ve ever heard from Carrie about her writing process is that she is so in awe of her emotional scenes, that she makes herself cry while writing.
And don’t forget the mess that is her social media.

Anyway, panto seems like the logical conclusion of this mess of a year for Carrie. Who will talk about this being the best year of her life, because she got engaged to a guy she ignored for eight years.

I just have to say panto isn't a step down necessarily career wise, and it is an art form itself so I'm not a fan of mocking panto itself. There is a real skill in doing panto, and doing it well. It's painfully obvious when you watch a panto and an actor isn't comfortable or doesn't 'get it', and this looks like one of those moments

Panto can pay very well, easily exceeding a year's salary for a few weeks work for the bigger names (some big names have been known to get 6 figures). What Carrie would get for a more modest panto however I'm not sure. As I've said before if she is doing panto there is no way this would be her first choice, she would expect (and should be doing tbf) the Palladium or at least one of Crossroads number 1 venues. Similar to other west end leads.

I remember commenting on a video one time that I didn't really like Carrie's acting style. Her fans, of course, ripped me apart. Or tried to. I stand by it. She's got a great voice, and I'll stand by that, too. But my god, her acting style is just not for me. And that's when she's actually TRYING. This panto "acting" is just cruel to her costars and audience.

I can't put my finger on one thing so maybe it's multiple things, but her in that video is so uncomfy.

Have you ever watched a tv show like the Big Bang theory when they’ve edited out the laughter track and you realise that without the canned laughter the jokes are so bad you don’t even realise they’re jokes? Well I’ve just watched that clip of her in the panto with the sound off because my baby is asleep in my arms. And oh gosh, it’s even more cringe when you’re watching it with no music 🤣

Carrie has a strong singing voice so the likes of les mis works for her. She over projects her lines so they come accross shouty.

re Joel- I still agree he was the nice guy rebound after Oliver. He flatters her and gave her an ego boost when she was low. Why can’t they just date and it’ll likely fizzle out to friendship rather than push this narrative of being perfect for each other!?!

She looks like an audience member that was invited to the stage and is dancing along them.
If her next book is about as girl called Phantasia who was the rare combination of blonde hair and brown eyes and is a struggling artist (who actually doesn’t struggle at all) trying to make it into the west end and is doing Princess parties that she hates…well I wouldn’t be surprised.
