The freaks group has given her such an inflated sense of her own popularity. When there's a group telling you how amazing, wonderful, fantastic, what a Queen you are, it's probably easier to fall into the trap of thinking that those comments will translate into a runaway success

The thing is though that outside of the freaks group she is pretty much a nobody. You only have to look at the comments on Twitter when she's on Good Morning to see that to a lot of people she's a nobody and not the household name she thinks she is

The other thing is that the skincare market is completely oversaturated and you really do need to be a big name to guarantee success. And on top of that, spending habits have changed because the world has changed. The pandemic, sustainability, etc. The freaks might think it's cute and adorable to hoard vast amounts of skincare but that idea is unthinkable to many. And if you're someone who has a good skincare routine using the Ordinary or similar, why would you stop that to take a punt on some random skincare brand?

Before I came on this thread I thought £10 on a moisturiser was extortionate!!!! I’ve had my eyes well and truly opened and the freaks group well what can I say. Full of bored housewives who want to be better than the Jones’ and crave to be noticed by the oaf!! I’ll stick to my wash my face when I feel like it and never wear sunscreen thanks as ppl still say I look 10 years younger than I am 😂

I think the skincare brand is not as good as expected. They are normal, ordibary products. Why would I buy hirons moisturizer when elf has a moisturizer that is more exciting. People want “more” from their products which I think hirons created and then she comes out with the most basic tit at an extortionate price.

I think you're right that Hirons created a thirst for 'more' but is offering far, far less than other brands at inflated prices. I bought into the 'luxe' market for far too long, all due to the Hirons Hype. Kate Somerville K8 moisturiser at around £130 for only 30mls was never going to be sustainable for me. I've tried so many of the creams and potions she's shilled over a few years and have to say I've yet to find a moisturiser I like more than the Ordinary NMF. It's not quite rich enough for me in cold weather, but a couple of drops of the Inkey List Squalane oil (or Clarins Blue Orchid when I feel like a treat) and it's perfect. I'm not remotely tempted to buy any of Hirons' own brand products.

The new Ordinary NMF (with phytoceramides) is incredible, very rich, I love it

I'm the same, there was a time I used to buy pretty much everything skincare wise at Space NK, that idea seems preposterous to me now
I was the same 😖
Now I never spend more than £10 at most - there are so many good budget products. The budget market has completely upped its game largely due to Superdrug, then Boots doing their own good cheap ranges imo.
Example - Pro Revolution's Miracle Cream which is a dupe for La Tilbury's Miracle Cream and is excellent - around £7.
Hiron's range seems so stodgy, unspiring and ludicrously overpriced by comparison. She's just got it all wrong this time.

Why, Lisa, whyyy? 😅🤣

I think she should have had two ranges for the skincare line a cheaper more budget line and something more innovative at the price point of her current releases. So many people are asking for recommendations for cheaper products due to the cost of living crisis.

I think her moisturiser looks like a decent hydrating one but nothing special for the price.

@Libertine1975 That would have been a sensible move from Hirons in terms of maintaining/improving on her popularity. Unfortunately for her though, there are other budget brands who produce excellent skincare at very competitive prices. If she was just up against the Ordinary, I think she could have found a niche as a lot of people are put off by their 'single active' approach because they don't feel confident about how to combine products to ensure they're including, for eg, vitamin C, retinol and peptides. The price of a full routine also increases if you have to use several different serums in each routine.

However, the Inkey List produces more sophisticated formulas. Their peptide moisturiser is great, for example (although it's a shame it's now in a tube rather than the airtight pump it was originally in).

I think Hirons has simply missed the boat. If she'd produced her own line 5 years ago, I'm sure it would have been more popular. The fact is, lines like the Ordinary, Inkey List and more recently Byoma, are instantly recognisable. Hirons' dull packaging is uninspiring and eminently forgettable.
