Her tone is so so dramatic. She makes herself and her family out to be martyr’s. Surprised she’s not mentioned her father in this. Did she ever call him dad? Or was she too posh/pretentious for such a thing.

Probably, but I can't help wondering was he a grifter too like his daughter. She seems far worse, but really I'm not sure what Tom's personality was like.

From reading his book I thought he was a nice man but was a bit of a pushover/people pleaser. He stayed in an unhappy marriage for years. His 2nd wife told him she wanted a lie-in every morning so he had to get up and look after the kids while she stayed in bed. There was another part about his 100th birthday party and he'd only wanted a small gathering with close friends and family but his daughters went OTT and invited loads of people and hired a singer, etc. Of course it ended up getting cancelled because of lockdown.
I got the feeling he was pushed into Barbados too, don't think it was his bucket list, it was Hannah's... he probably wanted to make his family happy so went along with it.

I tend not to have an opinion on Tom either way because he’s gone now and not here to defend himself. I also get the feeling that alot of what he did in that year between his walk and his death was not overly him and more orchestrated by Hannah.

I’m not putting down all those who went through so much fighting for their country but in those days you didn’t get any choice, men had to do national service!
