Bridgerton

I'm reserving judgement. Everyone was sceptical about season 2 when that was released, and it ended up being more loved than the first. I don't think it'll be too bad. But I don't mind Pen as a character. Colin always annoyed me because in the book he's so cranky so I'm interested to see if they change that.

True.

Although Anthony already had a big (but silent, compared to the dukes) fanbase, and we hadn't met his partner yet.

This time we know Pen and Colin well, so we kind of know what to expect.

As someone with a few lbs it'll be nice to see someone a female outside the normal physical look carry a romantic lead in a mainstream setting.

I am looking forward to it. Hope it doesn't disappoint.

it will! the interesting thing (not that bridgerton is historically accurate) is that if this was actual regency times then pen has the absolute ideal body/look and would be fighting suitors off.

It somehow hadn't occurred to me to look for a Bridgerton thread but the trailer have me a lightbulb moment🤣

I'm excited for the new season, actually. I have a pretty demanding job where bad news and reading about/analyzing horrible things are the bread and butter so I look forward to shows where there's no "darkness". There might be sad things happening, fights, drama, but it's all very human in a way and a happy ending is guaranteed of course. There are very few shows like that still on air lately.

I love the 'Pen is hot now' moment is just her in a dark green dress and a slightly different hairstyle like omg an attractive woman in a nice dress! Colin with his shirt off in the trailer was clearly meant to get people going but I don't know about anyone else but it definitely didn't get me going.
Exactly, Colin does nothing for me lol. But then neither did the guy from S1 and Anthony. The blonde bearded guy from the S3 trailer however... lovely :D Let's hope he's not a bad character. I'll give S3 a go. I've been a bit 'meh' about it in the past but I am interested to see if Penelope's story keeps us interested. She does look beautiful but I just don't like Colin, so I'll be watching to see if there's any chemistry ahaha

I agree it's nice Pen has her hot now moment without losing weight etc, but the problem is she doesn't look all that different to before. Maybe if she was originally a bit plainer before it would have helped. But hair to one side and a bit of make up I just don't see as a big transformation worthy of those looks 🤣

I think it's not huge but more visible comparing S1 Penelope to what we have seen of S3. The hair in S1 was atrocious. She always looked like a Louis XIV wig had a child with a poodle.

I'm guessing that it'll also be more about how she carries herself. I admit I'm a sucker for a glow up montage and then moment, but my guess is part of the point is that she didn't change that much physically but she's now surer of herself and no longer shrinking against curtains.

That new promo featuring Benedict (that seemed to tease him as a new lead for a possible fourth season) made me more excited than anything we’ve seen for season 3 haha
As someone who has never read the books I was convinced during season 1 that he was supposed to be the gay Bridgerton bro. I can only forgive them for not having him explore his sexuality because the character is so endearing anyway 😁

About season 3: is there any reason Eloise apparently (going by the teasers) hasn’t immediately told everyone that Pen is Lady Whistledown?? If still nobody knows except her then that’s such an annoying plot contrivance. Would she really for one second let her brother near Pen, knowing what she does and feeling as betrayed as she did last season?

Most importantly though: I hope that despite his limited time on set, Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley were able to film lots of Kanthony scenes 😁

I'd imagine Eloise is going to hold the Whistledown card extremely close to the chest. Perhaps she knows if she exposes her it's their friendship doomed forever. Or perhaps she doesn't want to "stoop to her (Pen's) level" or maybe she's even threatening blackmail (unlikely but it would be an interesting storyline!)

Personally, I think Eloise is a spoilt, selfish brat and I'd love to see her get a little humbled. I was proud of Pen for standing up for herself during their confrontation. Pen saved Colin from being baby trapped and saved Eloise from the Queen yet Eloise acts like she's the worst person in the world. Grow up, Eloise.

Ahem. Anyway, I'll get off my soapbox and go find that new promo.

I love Eloise but I know she's also an annoying brat and she was super cruel to Pen. I wonder how they will handle that, because in a way, it'd be very unlike Eloise not to unmask Pen, but also I could see how following the scandal of her and Theo she'd feel like she owes her family to be quiet, to not cause them any more scandal.

I wish they'd kept Benedict as S3's lead , and not just because I've read the books, but because I wonder if Penelope's story is over this season then Nicola might be leaving and I do love Pen/Nicola.

I know they haven't even begun filming S4 (which means we're probably going to see it until 2026) and that makes me wonder if they even plan on continuing past the already contracted S4. With how long they're taking, it must be hard to hold on to the actors. And like, the Eloise actress is already 34/35. Add two years for S4, and assuming S5 is hers, she'll be like 38. I know Nicola is 36 and also doesn't look it but I wonder how interested Claudia would be in continuing to be Eloise at almost 40.

Maybe Nicola C said she wanted out - or a reduced role - after series 3, and that’s part of the reason they moved up Polin?
I don’t necessarily think there’s an issue with Eloise looking a bit older in ‘her’ series. I know you were ‘on the shelf’ at the tender age of 21 in regency England, but in the books she’s meant to be ‘older’.

I didn't mean my comment as in she'll look too old, I literally said I wondered if she'll still be interested in playing Eloise still, aka playing a 27 year old (that's how old Eloise is in her book) by the time she's closer to 40. Actors often lose interest and if they haven't got her under contract for all 8 seasons, she could choose not to continue.
