These 2 ordinary, everyday guys are constantly campaigning for surrogacy in Ireland. They have been through it themselves and post lots of information on their pages about surrogacy which B and A never do. I'm sure many of you follow them. They've posted a lovely message of Congratulations and I'm wondering if it will be reposted by Brian or Orthur. I can't help feeling that Brian and Orthur want nothing to do with them. Not that they have to..but they are fighting for the same rights.
Just something I've wondered for a while. I hope I'm proven wrong😊

and ruin the illusion that B and A are the first ever gay couple to do this in Ireland....? If they actually cared about campaigning to change the law they'd have linked in with the groups and individuals who've been campaigning for years about this. Instead it's just empty soundbites in PR interviews and facials to be camera ready. There was a good documentary about surrogacy on virgin media a few years ago that featured a few different couples - one of them two lads who now have 2 kids.

I agree with you. And then the documentary claiming to help others on the same journey. If they so desperately want to help others they would as you say already be campaigning and not just pay lip service to it. They are highly unrelatable.

I would imagine her being with her sister was a decision she is happy with. She needs to rest and recover, the parents need time with they baby.

Aoife had her own life pre baby and she will have her own life post baby.
She isn’t the mum, she will be an aunt like the rest of the sisters.

I don't know what people expect them to be doing with Aoife. It's an unusual situation. They have a new born baby to look after and themselves too. It's hardly expected that one of them would be moved in and tending to Aoife. She did a wonderful thing for the brother she obviously adores. Hopefully she will go on to have children of her own. I've no doubt she is grieving some sort of loss since the baby was born. That's why surrogacy is so complicated and emotional. It's certainly not Brian and Arthur's fault.

It just makes me feel really sad. When I hear of women in couples unable to have children and being successful through surrogacy it makes me so joyful.
Call me old fashioned but this whole thing is just rather selfish
Why is it selfish that 2 men who love each other want to have a much wanted baby that's biologically one of their own? Some women in hetero & lesbian relationships use surrogates, some women carry a baby from donor egg, some women carry a baby from a donor sperm. I don't understand why it should be any different?

I couldn’t careless if if was two men, two women or a heterosexual couple, everyone has the right in my mind to be happy and have a family of that is what they want,

what annoys me about these two is they have exploited their so called fame for freebies and their ott behaviour.. I don’t doubt they will love the baby

I really don't understand your comment at all and hope you'll come back and explain it ?

You are happy for women in couples to have babies but sad when it's men??! Sorry WHAT ??

I think its just the way they have been so publicity hungry about the whole thing. From day 1 they have almost considered the woman as second fiddle. Posting "we're pregnant" and about "their struggles". I'd consider rosanna davison for example as having much more struggles than those two

Rosanna Davison had 10+ miscarriages, god love her. What she went through to have her kids is incredible and heart breaking. But she's not the bar against what all "struggles" are measured.

Arthur and Brian investigated fostering and adoption first and for various reasons either decided against it or weren't eligible. Maybe thats what they meant by "struggles".

It’s not even to do with them. We live in a society where people with money selfishly think they can get what they want, it’s like picking something off a shelf in a shop, except it’s a real baby. It’s nothing to do with it being men because I would question the ethics of it in a heterosexual couple too. It’s not like it was Aoife’s egg - it was an anonymous donor egg. Do we know what quality of life the donor woman leads? In future, will their baby know their genetic heritage? On a practical level, how will she prevent herself from going out with a relation of hers, unbeknownst to her? Will she have the right to know where she came from or had that been decided already because adults think of their own wants before the child? It’s the same questions regardless of the gender / sexuality of the parents
I’m sure medical records would be available from the clinic.
All these “practicalities“ you’re very concerned about would be similar situations to adoption I would think!

I feel so so sorry for Aoife, she has been with them for 9 months and then it seems ah they baby is here .. your job here is done.
Also I have a section photo like there’s myself but I’d never post it as it’s for my own privacy and memory’s. I hope Aoife is ok sections are hard and even harder are the blues ❤️

I hardly think Aoife went into this not knowing what was going to happen!! I’m sure they all went through counselling. Maybe this is Aoife’s choice not to be around the the next 6 weeks or whatever and not their choice. Her job is done to be honest!

Fully agree with this
