My target for the year is 253 and I'm currently on 221.

I had 52 as well and reading the 30th now. Had a few weeks without reading and read a few books that took me ages to read. I also usually read a lot on holiday but all my holidays this year were with big groups and not ideal for chilling out with a book.

To be fair I'll probably finish the year with double the books read in comparison to last year so still a win. I don't even have a top five this year. I actually had more 1 star than 4 star reads(only 3) this year and no 5 star (rare for me to give a book that tbh). Not sure if I'm harsh or just picking tit books 🤣 probably a bit of both

Reading Fourth Wing now.

However, that’s after looking through the 11 books I’ve rated 5 stars this year. Apart from One True Loves which really got me, I don’t think I’ve had any amazing stand out books (so far) that I’ll remember forever.
 
So Ive only had 6 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ reads this year which is somewhat depressing but anyway.

I always have an arbitrary target of 50 books each year as I try not to get too competitive with myself about how much I’m reading. I’ve found in the past I can get too focussed on getting through books quickly to get ahead of target instead of taking time to just enjoy them. Having said that I’m just about to finish 43 for the year!

One of my reading goals for the year though was to pick up some of the longer books that had been stacking up on my Kindle. According to StoryGraph I’ve read 8 books that were over 500 pages which I’m pleased with, and I’m currently reading Demon Copperhead which is 600+ so another one to add to that list. It also links to my favourite read of the year so far, I Am Pilgrim, so I’m keeping an eye out for the sequel too!
 
I set my target at 70 and have so far read 65 so defiantly going to a hit this (just set myself up for failure there). I am secretly gutted that I'm not going to get over a 100 this year as I have the last 3 years but I have to remind myself this year has been all over the place with getting a new job and a lot of changes.
 
I pre-ordered a book with Waterstones and they’ve just tried to take payment and my card’s been declined, does anyone know what I can do to fix this to still get the book? It was on 50% off so I don’t really wanna go in and pay full price for it! I dunno why it’s been declined as I’ve got plenty in the bank!
