I asked if someone saying "I can't be racist because I want Trish to win' is the new "I can't be racist because I have black friends." Obviously that couldn't be any more different to saying "Wanting Trish to win means I have black friends," which doesn't make any sense. Misunderstanding this simple point does suggest something though, as I'm sure many will be able to see 🙂

Finding it hard to catch up so apologies if this has all ready been said !

Kinda glad in a sense that Tim wasn't put up for eviction. Because, he thinks he is main player in that group. Shouting his little mouth off when he is safe in the group.
But he is just a little sheep. The other housemates are indifferent to him, he isn't relevant. So for that reason I'm glad because it will make him see no one actually cares about what he has to say
 
I hate that Trish is being put though what she is. If it’s uncomfortable to watch at home, imagine how painful it is experiencing it.

Big Brother at its best really is a microcosm of the way people interact in every day life, so it makes complete sense that so many people are unable to see/ understand the racist micro aggressions she’s facing on the daily. And that the FF are completely blind to their own unconscious biases. I’d like to think that it’s a learning opportunity (though horrible that it’s at the expense of Trish’s peace) but unfortunately most people are so fixed in their perspectives/ attitudes, they’d rather not acknowledge that it happens, and get defensive when it’s pointed out rather than listen and try to understand.

So…. What is the tactic for ensuring Trish is safe? Is it Chanelle and Olivia or Chanelle and Jenkin?

😂 no I wouldn’t really vote for her to go before Chanelle, Tom, Olivia, Jenkin. But watching the live helped me a bit with the ordering for the next lot! I am planning to put all 5 to Chanelle unless someone does something really awful today.

yinrun was bored of the conversation - understandably - but then tried to stop anyone else having it and it’s annoying when people do that. It’s not that she’s done anything bad just irritating

As for Olivia, I’m not sure if I believe it was sincere, but Trish did and I’m pleased for her as she had seemed so low in the actual episode, it was nice to see they’d reached some peace

I was never a fan of Brian. He was as thick as mince, and as far as I could tell, this was the only reason for his popularity. Funny thing is, I found Jade's naivety charming (at least she asked questions, East Angular, am I minging etc), but Brian Belo was in the public eye before Joey Essex and was more or less as ignorant and stupid as Mr Essex.

I can only suppose that enough viewers perceived stupid people as safe, non-challenging friends that they might like to have. As such, Brian was a not "strong" enough person to be threat to any race-based dislike, conscious or not. I dare say that there were those who wanted him off their screens on account of the colour of his skin; I wanted him out on account of I don't find stupid people entertaining.

If he had any charm or entertainment value, it went over my head, sorry.

Trish is a more challenging person for any narrow-minded person (racist or not) to choose as a winner, because one of the things rhat differentiates her in the house is her ability to make reasoned, and reasonable judgements about everyone's behaviour (including her own). In a world where some people have climbed into top jobs (via popularity contests / elections) whilst lacking the tiniest fraction of self-awareness, the ability to reflect on ones own behaviours, and to seek self-improvement is patently not universal. The part of her that is prepared to assert herself, to say what's on her mind, and explain herself, is a separate characteristic.

I certainly expect other people to choose different winners for different reasons, but I can't see that there has been much to dislike in her behaviour. Some might say that she tends to be the centre of conversations (latterly), but other HMs can join in too or go and discuss particle physics or Paul's cock with polymath Chanelle if they prefer.

This series has really got me thinking how absolutely exhausting it must be to be black, or brown or just… different. Trish constantly being “complimented” by being called “strong” and told she can “take it”. duck off. She needs just as much support and sensitivity as everyone else. Just because she’s learned (/ HAD to learn) how to defend herself doesn’t mean she should have to and shouldn’t make her a target for twats like Chanelle and Jim. Noky doesn’t fit the “aggressive” mould like Trish does but both groups treat her like an outsider because they just can’t be bothered to get to know her and assume she’s suspicious. It SUCKS.
