I'd rather have a mug than a pencil - she's given those out as prizes before. Apparently it's the taking part that counts!I was doing a long drive the other day and flicking between Radio 2 and Greatest Hits. Greatest hits were busy promoting their competition to win 250k whilst Sarah Cox was busy trying to drum up excitement over the chance to win a Sarah Cox mug. It did make me chuckle.
Zoe gets all of the good guests that R2 books. I agree with your point though. Sara is my favourite presenter so it doesn't bother me that it's just her and the silly stuff - she has the personality to carry it off. Most of the games are naff (eg Letter Getter!) but she's not trying to pretend otherwise so it's OK. Callers always sound really happy to have a chat with her and she's fantastic with them.I feel a little bad for Sarah. The mid afternoon and drive time shows used to get a lot of guests and special features. Since she took over, the budget appears to have gone and she must entertain the public with some mugs, fluff and a bit of string.
I don't mind all the daft games and audience participation, it gives the afternoon shows something to make them different. I think all the celebrity guests now end up on the One Show rather than radio 2
Ah ok. I didn't know that, sorry! It was mentioned yesterday (on Gaby's show) as if it was new news.He had already announced that a couple of days after he came back.
What a good recommendation - thanks. I'll definitely seek that out.The 21st century folk music series Radio 2 has been doing is brilliant. I am listening to it now and some of the stories are making me very emotional.
For those who do not know about it, it is something they stated doing last year. They find 5 people with extraordinary stories and pair them up with a folk musician/group who writes a song about them.
Last year, my old GP was one of the people selected as a subject for a new folk song ( I think it was called ' Doctor Boro', and was about how he came here to work as a young GP and has seen many changes over the years, many difficulties for the area etc but he love for Middlesbrough FC has always lasted).
This year all the songs are related to the sea or lifeboats. I ended up crying listening to one of the stories about a couple who nearly drowned after the tide came in and left them stranded.
The whole thing should be on bbc sounds ( live performances of the songs on the iplayer) , I highly recommend it for anyone looking for something a little different.
I used to like her, but she seemed to change when she got "her" ranch in Ibiza and I feel she constantly belittles Jamie. I know he's a bit naive maybe, but even so.I like Vick but not with Katie and Jamie, the dynamic is off. You could tell she was actually friends with Jordan so it worked better.
