I intended to listen to Steve’s programme this afternoon, but I couldn’t in the end - I’ll get it on iplayer. It’s so true what you’re saying about the BBC, they’re running themselves into the ground. It doesn’t matter who presents the programmes, it won’t encourage a younger audience. Meanwhile, the listeners they do have are being driven away because they’re stopping the shows they enjoy.

Also no disrespect to anyone as I am the same age group, but Scott mills, Sara cox etc are in their late 40s so not exactly ‘young’

He’s such a drip! I’ve commented about him on here before. He used to be our local weather presenter on Look North. I think he’s one of those people who just wants to be ‘famous’ and would do anything to be on telly or radio. He’s truly awful. I think it’s all an act to make himself appear more interesting 🙄

I’m in the Look North region as well! I liked him when he did the weather but he does seem like he’s got too big for his boots.

I agree, but I think it is more the presenting styles, Mayo and Wright were old school, a bit cheesy but you knew what you were getting 2-5 every day from Steve Wright.
The mix of old and new music, features and interviews, and a bit of a comfort zone for listeners in the afternoon.

Also, I’d add that the ones who are leaving (certainly on radio 2) are radio professionals who are either DJs by trade or have a background working in radio or the music industry, and had real knowledge about the music. Many of the newer replacements seem to be people who the BBC regard as popular personalities, who are just there as a presenter.

Greatest Hits Radio on DAB has Alex Lester, Richard Allinson, Simon Mayo, Mark Goodier from the bygone days of Radio 2.
 
Well I won’t be tuning in to Zoe Ball in the morning, i can’t say I do so much anymore as I find her unbearable at the best of times. Now that Richie the one time travel guy with 1 minute slot to tell us the M6 was closed and now a mainstream presenter is out of Strictly..jeez what will she talk about? How amazing he is, how we all love you (Richie) and all her daily sycophantic Richie rants. I’d love to listen to the radio or even breakfast Tv without a half an Strictly update! I’m not interested, along with many many others..it’s not news..I couldn’t give a tit! It won’t be long before they give Richie Zoe’s breakfast show as that what he is clearly aiming for.
Why haven’t all the other traffic travel presenters been given the same opportunities? Donkeys years of loyal to the BBC ..Sally Traffic, Lynne Bowles etc don’t get a look in And he’s been there for what seems like 2 mins and is on every Tv show, The One Show, Eurovision, commonwealth games filling in for anyone whose off sick. Rant over..for now!
